I can't ever recall being involved in community website where everyone has gotten along so well, worked so well together and just generally been good to each other.
I can't take any credit for it, other than after launching the site I did...nothing. GSM is a close to anarchy as a community website could possibly be, no one is in control, no one tells anyone how to behave. Besides the the rigidity of the topics, there's very little in the way of rules, but respect for others seems natural and people have fun. There is zero moderation.
Now the guys are making ready to release what might be the largest suite of work I've ever seen, all of it very well done. No one directed the effort, although people stood up to organize it. Everyone positively supported the effort. There's nothing but pure positive energy behind it.
I think we are witnessing the birth of the anti-group, the rise of true community cooperation. Why can't everyone contribute and have fun with large, community wide suites? You may have issues in regards to quality, but you also foster a spirit of helpfulness and community that just improves things in every way for everybody.
It's cool.
