Having used Praxxis' Litestep theme, the window blinds theme is pretty true to the Thug Life motiff. The OK/Cancel and radio buttons could be better.

Changes from the usual Pad and is really nicely done... but I'm not a big fan.

I have yet to see a MyPad skin that really gets a rise out of me (or one that exceeds the skin included), but this is about as close as it gets.

This theme as with all others is a matter of choice and I personally rate it very highly, the theme is well thought out and constant through out. The amount of work that has been put into this theme along with the readme files that come with it not only make it in my opinion one of the best but the easiest to configure and change to suit my own needs. Praxxis has my respect and thanx for sharing this skill and talent that created Thugs Life.... Keep it real.. top class theme.

Great work. I'm using this theme for the LCD display, which i brightened with a graphics program to sharpen things up.... Also, as DVADER has stated, the wharf and extras are just excellent!

I have been looking for a theme like this. I have gone thru like 30 or 40 crappy themes for LiteStep. This one I am stickin with. The wharf is excellent (alittle while to customize though -- no bother for me), the extras are rad. Including the Dimension add-on (revolving cube in top left corner)... that thing kicks so much ass. If you are the least bit interested in changing your current theme. Give this a try!!! Worth the download time.

Not bad for something based on windoze, however, methinks many ppl out there miss the point. Why bother making windoze llok nice??!??! Get yourself a happy little linux box, whack on enlightenment, and be eternally happy. Linux is the way forwards! Personally i prefer HOG or just even the default E15 theme. Get a life and get LINUX!

This theme is cool and after a while it leaves a bad taste in your mouth. Personally I like things simple.

Great theme. Used it for around 2 months, but eventually got tired of the green.

I think the Theme is great and I have it set up on my computer at home, but I have one problem. When I added the cube to my startup like it said to do, all I get is the "flying through space type screensaver" in the square and a popup whenever I start my computer stating that I need some .dll I am at work and can't set it up here to give you the exact name, but I will ask again when I get home. Has anyone else had this problem? Does anybody know what file I am talking about? I tried emailing praxxis twice.. no reply. someone please help!

Pretty good theme, but there's some problems. First, the sysvwm dll seems to be right on top of the shortcut bar.. I can probably fix it through the step.rc file though. Also what's the black box on the top left for? I don't know if it's for the screen saver since I didn't load it. Other than that this skin is great.. love the LCD type look, and finally a great skin for the 800*600's.

Badass theam, but its not changing the world. Why all the '100' scores? It seems like a '100' score should be givin to a theam that actually raises the bar. This one just dosn't IMO. (I still use it, heehee)

*as if this theme needed another review* well, i don't like the look it at all, it's very well done, but i just can't stand the cyberish looking wharf and popups. another thing i don't like about it is that it's too bloated, a theme should take 5-10% of deskspace at most. i still can't figure why people *cough*eldersoul*cough* write negative stuff about the step.rc's, if you can't even set up step. rc correctly, you shouldn't review themes. step.rc is......basic.

At first i thought it was a great theme but after I opend the step.rc to edit it i said screw it. theres no grafix fer anything and its hard to make your own. but theres a LOT of good features to it and think this person did a good job overall.

I dont like this theme at all. the text is WAY to small on the wharf menu. the colors are nice, but it dosent match with the back ground. I should support more resolutions. I beleave a theme should include those stuffs to get [100]. / - ferion@antisocial.com - \

Definitely good stuff, BUT!!! loses one point because it is prompting you all to suggest it becomes the default LiteSTEP theme. If that were to happen no one would be likely to try to create their own theme which is sort of the whole idea.

Sure, the wharf and winamp-gfx are totally awesome!! This theme would be a real no.1 if it just had a decent background!! God, it doesn't work together with the wharf at all! Nope, my little droogies..keep working on those bg-picys!

I normally try to stay away from rating other people's work. As I know my taste pretty much sucks.<g> But I like ThugLife quite a bit. It's a nice 'generic' layout, meaning it will work with a variety of backgrounds. Aside from all the turmoil over whether the graphics are original or 3rd generation etc., as a layout it works pretty well on the desktop. I know I did something a little similar with my old tinbox2100 theme for ls23, which folks seemed to like at the time. I admitted right up front that it was completely cut & pasted from the original Fallout screenshots at interplay.com, and I don't remember getting a single mail being accused of theft. As long as he's clear about where he got all the graphics, and the original author's don't object, folks should probably cut him some slack. I'm sure his next theme will knock your socks off.:)

To everyone who believes these graphics are ripped from Pordey, I have news for you. Pordey ripped the graphics in question from a WinAmp 1.x skin by Zoran Djakovic (also known as AZD).

Maybe Amusement can help me out here, cause I'm a liitle confused. Are we rating the theme creator or the theme itself? If we are rating the theme creator, I'm not sure I understand the point of all this, why would my opinion of the creator affect someone elses wanting to download it. I would rather like to think we should be rating the theme itself and it's usability, ease of installation and overall look. In which case I could care less if the images were lifted from Vincent Van Goagh himself. The point being that whoever made these graphics, whoever made the readme and step.rc files, whoever came up with the idea of using sysvwn and dimension, did a great job. This theme as a whole creates a very cool looking interface which I had no problem setting up and using. If the images are not origional to Praxxis, so what he at least had the good sense to combine them to make one incredible theme. So if you are new to litestep and want something on your desktop that will completly change it's look the you should give Thug Life a shot, but if your someone like Amusement or Julie then you need to really question what your doing here looking for a theme. Cause if your willing to use someone elses theme and be unorigional then you should not be criticizing others who may be. At least Praxxis and some of these othere theme creators are origional enough to make a theme rather then download one.

Wow. Just got litestep yesterday. I looked at other ones, decided to try this one, and i got it working right off the back! Amazing... sucks to have the computer right by the window, black text + dark background + glare == Awww, man! Hehe, keep up the good work.

I have looked at the skin and the theme, and there is a lot more going on here than just a altered winamp skin. Really the only thing that stays consistant with the skin is the title bar. Nothing in the skin is laid out the same on the theme other than that. It looks like Praxxis used the title bars and the color scheme, but the wharf icons were not pulled from the skin. and even if it was, so what. I give props out to everyone involved with the graphics on the theme. I looks cool and work great on my system. The one thing no one can dispute is Praxxis went to a lot of work to make this theme work and look consistant. Praxxis is not the one being rated here Thug Life is, and I give Thug Life a big fat 100.

I don't think many people noticed this and she only made the information publically available for everyone to see. If she doesn't like it because it's not original then that is her right. The same way it is everyone's right to rate Winamp skins so low because they are not original.

Julie you are wrong to think Praxxis is pulling one over on everyone. He has openly admitted this from day one. He even admits it on his web site. I for one think this whole user reveiw section needs to go away, cause people are not rating the theme. Julie is obviously rating praxxis based on her opinion of him trying to pull one over. I wen't and looked a Pordey's skin in question and while it looks a lot like Thug Life, there was obviously some work done by Praxxis to make this theme. Plus the idea of making the theme itself was origional.

WHO CARES!!!! I don't think Praxxis, Pordey, DigitalBlaphemy, or Propaganda.themes.org are getting any royalties for anything. So who cares who gets the credit. I don't think any of these theme/skin creators are glued to their seat waiting to hear your opinion on their theme. Litestep is made for people to customize their desktop to fit their needs. That's what Praxxis did here, you should be thankful that you have the oppurtunity to use such a nice interface regardless of who created it. If you don't like it cause it's not origional then you have to ask yourself what you are doing by putting someone elses theme on your desk. So who cares who made it! If you have a problem with it get off your Hypocritical Ass's and make your own damn theme.

READ THIS POST!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have to point something out here... that everybody else seems to have missed. Thug Life is a well made theme, but, it is not at all original. Every graphic used in this theme is simply a modification of Pordey's W2Azd Pro v2.0 Winamp Skin. I noticed this when I compared the Thug Life Winamp Skin to Pordey's. I then compared the Winamp Skin to the rest of the theme and realized that the entire thing was simply altered graphics with snazzy text added to it. Using graphics that are not your own seems to be a common thing with Litestep and is not such a bad thing.... However, i just think that Praxxis was trying to pull one over on us with Thug Life. If you compare the skins I've mentioned, I'm sure you'll come to the same obvious conclusion.

1st off, this section is for reveiwing a theme, not for ranting at one another about crap. But since you guys started it i'll finish it. Yes Praxxis used a digitalblasphemy background, so do most of the Litestep themes out there, and I think the point Allaire is trying to make here is that the propagande.themes.org website clearly states in a couple places that the images are free and copylefted. for details on what copylefted means go here : http://www.fsf.org/philosophy/categories
.html basically what it mean is the images are free, they can even be modified, but no restriction can be placed on their distribution. So Praxxis is ok to include them. This whole thing is extremly ridiculous though. I know Praxxis, I have talked to him a few times on IRC in #litestep, he has told me that he never made Thug Life for the other people and dosn't take that in to consideration when making it, He makes themes for himself and to fit his needs. So I'd be willing to bet he dosn't give a flying f*ck what anyone says in here.

I personally don't care about the background myself. I'm using my own image anyway. But Razor has a point about amusement. If your gonna bring down your score for Thug Life, then you should be bringing down your score for Dillusions of Grandure....Now as for getting permission to use the propaganda.themes.org tile. Well if you ask me last time I checked CopyLeft meant CopyLeft. If you don't know what copyleft means amusement then I suggest to do a search on the internet for Copyleft and Richard Stallman you might learn something.

Background Smackground. This theme is not about the background. the cool thing about this theme is it can go with just about any background. I for one choose a different background then the one offered and change it weekly. To weigh the background at all in the themes rating is somewhat rediculous, unless the shortcuts are integrated into the background, which in this case they are not. I love this theme. DukE, you need to learn about file size, a 1280x1024 bmp would be rather large and anybody with a newer browser can easily convert a jpg to bmp using his/her browser. I'm taking 5 point's off for the Popups. I don't like the way the titles appear on the submenu's even though they are somewhat hidden. NOTE to AMUSEMENT: Fine. If you are gonna mark Praxxis down for a non-origional theme then you NEED to be consistant and do the same on Chiba City and Dillusions of Grandure where the background was lifted as well, but you didn't you gave them high scores. Just because you have never seen the backgound in your web surfing does not make it origional.

It's great, really... No comments - the people said ehough 'bout it.. -1 for the bad quality backround JPEG - it has too many artefacts near the edges of planet... I think that package bgd's must be a .BMP filez.

marvelous!!! I love this this theme. I have always tried to keep abreast of the UNIX window manager scene and what people were doing to their desktops. I had no idea there was a Windows alternate shell scene as well. wow! This theme Thug Life is doing everything right. What I've noticed about other window managers is that the most popular themes are the ones that are techno related. Ones that are futuristic and very computer geeky. This one does that but with a very different approach. Most go for the Cyber-Punk Post appolyptic look or Black dark look, while Praxxis took a more Retro LCD look. This theme is geeky as hell and I love it. Praxxis is a master. This theme is also one of the most easiest to configure. I downloaded Blacklit & Neurojunction and I still can't get them to work right. Thug Life went in very easy. Also Props to Praxxis for including the LCD font, the Plus theme file, the Dimension cube, and sysvwm. I also give my vote for Default theme!

Positively the best Litestep theme out today. I must admit it is so ugly you have to love it : ) It cracks me up when end users come around and see it and just get that blank stare -" like what the hell is that?" I liked it so much I even applied it to my laptop.

I couldn't have said it better myself AngryPanda! Praxxis has obviously gone to great lengths to keep the whole look consistant. The icons are perfect an yet simple. I have customized my own icons with ease and didn't need a high powered editor like Photoshop. The look of this theme when setup like the readme says is absolutly astonding. I love this theme. I was a little throw off by the name too, but his web site explained the reasoning behind it, and hey what's in a name. I definatly have to find out if Falkon ported this to LINUX, cause that would rock! And I agree with the others, Thug Life should be the default litestep theme, cause the one it comes with now is very lame!

I didn't just want to give "another perfect score" but it's impossible not to, unless you're just being banal. Thug Life is perfectly executed: the graphics flow together seamlessly, and the LCD look is kept consistently throughout. I didn't have any trouble installing it, or customizing it. The icons themselves have a consistent, graphic feel. It all just "fits," especially with the eFX skin and Plus! theme installed. And that's the main idea behind a theme, the parts forming the whole, n'est-ce pas? Even if you don't like the LCD look, you have to admit this is quality, professional work, and it shouldn't be dismissed with a 70 and a "Looks ok, but not great."--I think it deserves a well-thought out review. (Actually, I think almost any LS Theme requires a ton of work, and should get a decent critique, not some rapid dismissal as "sucking.") Add my vote to the default theme cause. However, I don't particularly care for the name either, or the little "pads" on the bottom of everything, but that's just my taste--not some flaw in Praxxis's execution of the theme. Keep 'em coming, Praxxis!!

Very Nice. I must figure out a way to bully Praxxis now, and take control of his theme. This is the best a Window's system has ever looked. The only problem is that Praxxis has a monopoly on awesome themes now and it's only a matter of time until the DOJ break Praxxis up.

LiteStep + Praxxis = GOD! Thug Life is absolutely incredible. The folks that are out there making X-Server Window Managers should be taking lessons from Praxxis and the LS Dev team. I have fallen in love with my computer all over again and I have Thug Life to thank. Praxxis you are a great graphics person, although some of the pictures in your web site gallery are down right scary. :O

Superb - I can honestly say this is the best LS theme I've found so far - wonderfully customizable, great looking. Can't help wondering what the scrolling stars in top-left will do to my gaming frame rate though - that might be the first thing disabled :) Beautiful theme though, love it.

Like anything it's a matter of opinion, and my opinion on Thug Life is that it is the coolest looking litestep theme yet. So much Eye Candy it will rot your teeth. I like the way praxxis kept all the icons limited to about 5 or 6 colors and then includes a MS Plus theme file to let you make your windows match those same colors. When setup the way he describes in the readme it makes a very clean and consistant theme. I'm using it on my laptop and sometime feel that it's an actual LCD interface. Very Cool, Very Retro. I think I'm gonna even try to port it to my LINUX box.

I might be the only one in the world who isn't crazy about Thug Life. And to be honest, I'm not sure either. It's very well done and very smooth, but it just doesn't appeal to me for some reason.

Not much better, if you ask me... I can't stand that LCD look, seems uglier every time I look at it. I'm a color kinda guy. :) Oh, and the popup menu could use some work. Still easy to use, though.

Aha, I'll add my own 2 cents. I love this theme. I love variety on my desktop and try new themes constantly. But I love this theme so much it was very difficult to try something else. I haven't run any theme as long as I've run this one. It's so great looking and so complete. Good job praxxis, give us more! <G> (Where's Sixxarp? <G>)

WOW! Praxxis did a great job of refining the warf, and that cube is too much! This theme should be the default Litestep theme. It is head and shoulders above the rest. Even Praxxis's web site is amazing. Dieter's got to be right,, Praxxis is an incredible graphics designer. Maybe Microsoft should be calling him for the Windows2000 GUI.
