aim hacks

i think that would be a pretty good idea... i don't know if it is actually 'legal' though since it may be considered reverse-engineering or disassembling or something of the sort...

well, ive just reformatted and i forgot to back up a few things (namely my aimres.dll) so ill write up a really REALLY basic text file and email it to you as i hack my aim up again

depends on what kind of hacks you're talking about. i mean, if it's making add-ons for it like halcyon and pianostrings are doing, then that's a little more advanced but if it's reshacking to change icons and dialog strings, you just have to open up the dll in reshacker and go to work.

We know that all we have to do is "just open it up and get to work." I myself have found a lot of things in the dll, but I can't find everything. It seems that everytime someone asks for the res value to change, someone tells them just to open it up and look for it themselves. Would it be so hard for someone who knows all these tricks (like sticboy) to just write down some of the lesser known ones for the community?

but really... all you have to do is go through the directory trees one at a time and look.

Well, how about a roadmap of sorts that shows where what is once you "just open it up and get to work." I know how to do that, but sometimes looking, and looking, and looking can get old.

copy and rename admin.ocm to advert.ocm

rumble, i think people have been trying to find a way around that yellow for a while. as far as i know, nobody's been able to yet.

what program is sykodelicphondl talking about using...? i opened my aimres.dll in reshack and looked in those directories and i saw nothing of the sort... perhaps program version differences? what version of aim and reshack were you talking about?

Someone needs to go to AOL and personally ask them to remove that stupid yellow highlight, because I don't think we will ever find it.

5.0 aim sucks..cant be cleaner then 4's..for now

It's got that vile light brown/beige color in the background, although I'm sure that can be hacked out too.

It's almost as bad as the yellow. Almost.

5.0 always screws up my rig for some reason, removing my right click, not letting me access ye old three finger salute, almost like a virus, which just creeps me out so I remove it.
Plus, as i've seen everywhere (So far) when logging in, there's an annoying pause between "Verifying name and password" and "Starting Services", I've tried this even on the fastest of the fastest connections, and still a pause, that just annoys me.

there is a way to change the color of that yellow thing and the buddy list background color and buddy list text.......download aimpatch its a pretty cool program and easy to use

Someone found the yellow thing, I don't even use AIM and I read that much of it. (When it was being talked about)

yeah the yellow highlight was found, edited, i mean i use miranda, trillian, and alot of other messenger clients, i used to hack, aim but dont need to anymore :-/
