Firefox 0.8
|
As of resent, I woke up and started useing the firefox browser. Its a great browser, the best ive ever used. I've been useing it for about a week now.
I havent been here to custo for a long time. When i hurd about the new site skins and less high server load pages, i thought i would swing buy.
To my dismay, Firefox wont display custo, im posting this with IE, witch displays everythying great. Nice skin Hermik!
Anyway, it gives me the error msg "The file / cannot be found. Please check the location and try again."
I tryed makeing a bookmark for custo and useing it, but it gives me the same error.
Hope someone can tell me why this is, and maybe even help me with the problem.
Custo is the only site so far that gives me this error.
Thanks in advance.

Does Dictionary.com show up alright?
If Firefox can display that, then you should be just fine.

if all fails, switch back to an earlier build or wait for next night's build. Personally I use the mozilla suite

I try to navigate to customize.org useing the adrress bar, or link, or bookmark.
I get a dialog saying "The file / cannot be found. Please check the location and try again."
When i hit "OK" the dialog closes, and the browser just sits there, like it's at "about:blank" or something.
Thats exactly what happens.

hmm, check your HOSTS file maybe?

Did IE when Firfox 0.8 isn't working arounf the same time? It can't be the HOST file if IE works about the same time that Firefox don't. Actually Mozilla browsers don't get that tie in with HOST file.
I think you got a bad build (use another) of Firefox 0.8 if you have already try to re-install the app like you had said.
Did Opera worked? Did Mozilla worked? Did different build of Firefox 0.8 worked?

jujube: actually, the HOSTS file interacts directly with your TCP/IP stack which means that it doesn't matter what application you are using, EVERYTHING will use the HOSTS file.
It sounds like you're having problems with Firefox rather than the site. As has been said here before, the majority of our most active members use Mozilla Firefox as their primary browser (including myself) and the site looks great.
Let me ask you, had you ever had Phoenix, Firebird, or Firefox installed before? If so, you probably need to remove your old profile. You can find this profile at the following location:
c:\documents and settings\$USERNAME$\applicatio data\phoenix
Remove that directory and try again. If that doesn't help, we'll try some other things.

Hey guys,
This is a bug in FireFox 0.8. It's a major, known bug, and it should be fixed in newer builds.
For the time being, the workaround that works for me is to clear my cache (Tools -> Options -> Privacy on Windows).
