I feel that Customize.org is the postor child of all that is customizing on the internet. It's come a long way, but I've noticed it hasn't expanded so much in the past few years. Wouldn't it be a good idea if customize branched off a tutorial site, or maybe add some tutorials on it's site? I'd be nice to have tutorials on how to customize and create your own visual styles and icons. I know there are tons of sources on the net, but a lot of them are starting to get outdated and are very rarely updated (other than a few forums, which you have to dig to find things).
It was just an idea I was throwing out there, just wanted to see what others input would be.

I agree. I was trying to make a post about this when I hit the enter key on accident, utorials.
I remember reading something on Custo awhile back about adding a section for tutorials. Yes there are other sites on the net that feature guides and tutorials but they are not Custo. Custo is a community of talented people that can do a much better job.
Maybe someone could implement a system like Wikipedia for the tutorials. That would relieve the stress of just one person writing the whole thing and, since anybody could modify it at any time, they could be updated easily.
maybe for helping people with reshacking (i know theres a post somewhere already helping users with it but i notice that the question keeps popping up all the time)
littleginzo72 -- It'd be nice for there to be a lot of tutorials for customizing your desktop, as well as how create your own stuff, such as litestep themes, icons, visual styles and etc...
I know WinT has an excellent site, but it's not constantly updated. He takes time off from time to time. I'd be nice to have a resource that is continuously growing and new things added all the time.
But yeah, it'd be great to have a tutorial section or maybe a spin off site which would be a section/site dedicated to tutorials which were maintained by the Custo community. I honestly don't see it going any where for a while, because like I said earlier, we are the poster child of all that is desktop customization on the entire internet. We've had many competitors, and in my opinion, they've all failed. We have always held a high standard when it comes to customization. :)
i was thinking the same thing a couple weeks back. i usually teach myself how to customize and use apps like photoshop, but having tutorials avaliable could be really cool.
if it does happen, it may need a hefty bit of moderation to ensure accuracy, quality etc.
Yeah, it'd be great to have one resource to find out how to customize things and how to create things to add GOOD submissions to customize.org. We have a good staff that could probably handle moderating it, if they would want that responsibility.
Well, we've already established there really isn't any way to submit tutorials except under the "Miscellaneous" section for now. Hopefully, EVO will address this issue.
Now, instead of telling us you want tutorials, why not tell what you want tutorials on, so someone can either help you, or write a tutorial?
Simply put, the amount of work someone would have to spend creating this would be immense. All the attempts by the administration in the past have failed, so how about the community does something about it, instead of suggesting it and relying on the efforts of others to do the work for you.
Everyone who wants to know how to do something, try to create a tutorial on something you do know how to do, then ask for information on something you're fuzzy on. Sort of like a bit torrent esque philosophy. You get something in return for the work you put in.
You could see if the administration would be willing to collect all these tutorials and possibly compile into a neat little package for everyone.
Anyways, on top of that, you'd actually have to get the owners to implement it, which is rather difficult, but I digress.
It's your community. Make it what you want it to be.
