Maybe it's just me, but I think Customize kicks Deviant Art's ass. No disrespect to Deviant Art, but it seems the content on Custo [I]is[/I] filtered better. Plus I think custo's design is better... what do you think?

DA may be cluttered but there's more variety. DA may be slow, but custo has the infamous server overload screen!

what?? you complaing about Custo's screenies? well, D.A. has all those useless Winamp presets. same thing, in my book. but i like the original photography sections. it's definitely more 'goth' over there. but Custo's boards win, hands down. Hell, if all that remained on Custo was the boards, it's still worth a daily visit.

and personally i like custo the most since its been here for a long time, and almost every big artist has used custo in the beginning......it has also a very tight community and all, and it wouldnt be much worth to visit without the boards. Its social, yay :)
devart is full of kiddies, yes, old and new, but its not the same feeling. Too big for my tastes.....like a big messageboard where you have like 5 replies before you get to finish typing yours. And this board doesnt have sections. GOD, i hate messageboards with sections and "topic-control"

Dude arguments like these are stupid. DA is a cool site, they've got some awesome stuff up. like it kills ya to visit both sites, cause god knows, you don't have enough time in the day to visit both DA and Custo if you're posting to threads like this one ::rolls eyes::
They do things differently than we do, if you like that, more power to you, if you like how we organize better than they do, more power to you, but stop knocking good werk that other people put up.

Thank god there is a site like DeviantART. It is a true art site in every sense of the word. Covering almost the full spectrum (cept for maybe music and film) that an art site can offer. Personally i dont have time for poetry nor the desite to read it, but i'm really glad its there for people to share. Because i'm sure a lot of people enjoy it. The site is called DevantART, not DeviantSKINS, not DeviantScreenshots etc.

None of you liked it when people from "other" sites came here and tried to tell you how to run your site. It was your "back yard", "your ball", and your decision.
But it's no better than this. If you don't like DevArt, or ANY other site: Don't sit here and complain about it. Either go to Deviant Art and voice your complaints, or just leave it alone.
Or better yet, put those energies to work, and tweak this site to YOUR idea of perfection.

i visit DA about 3,000 times a day i visit custo once every few days (and see the same stuff)

DA's got better a better community, userpages, variety in ART (not just skins), and i just feel more homely there. Custo is just kinda fun to fool around in.

Who said they're sitting here complaining about it? They just pointed out some aspects that they don't like: it doesn't follow from this that they are asserting that DeviantART should somehow change.
Secondly, your comparison to what happened when the "leaders" from other sites came here to criticize is completely inappropriate: they are voicing their opinions here, where they will probably be able to get their points across without fear of offending, rather then going to said sites to stick it in their face and troll.
Thirdly, who said they don't already think customize is as good as they can make it?
At any rate, I don't go to DeviantART for the simple reason that the list of skins on the front page is just too damn long for me to wade through. It's a nice site, really smooth, lots of features and all that, but I like for some the new stuff to stick out right when I hit the page. Does this mean I think DeviantART should be more like customize? No, this is a highly flawed assumption that indicates that you are probably far too defensive for your own good.
I would say Custo. I mean i use to use DA ONLY.. but now i love the speed, design and users on Custo. The staff is amazing.. i mean you submit something.. by the time u turn around one of the great staff have it Commented on.. its lovely :).. I love custo. i think i found my new home.. Speed is what i look for and of course design and reliability, i cant put up with Da's Slowness any longer

Threads like this sadden me, sorta, kinda. You can try to compare apples and oranges untill you die, but they'll still just be apples and oranges. 'Oderint dum metuant' is all I really have to say about this thread.

I just like Custo more. I won't waste time telling you why I think DA is bad, but instead waste time telling you why I think Custo is good: Custo has a much better system oif filtering through the submissions, Custo has less assholes (I won't say it has none, every community has their fair share, DA just happens to have more), Custo is faster, and Custo has generally just a friendly atmosphere.
This is all my opinion, so feel free NOT to argue with me, because it won't matter and my opinions will stay the same.

I have a great idea!!! Why you don't shutdown the skins sections, the site will cost less, it will be faster and you will be able to remove those banners, it will be even more non comercial place.

"HAHA Deviantart is not slow no matter what you say because you're wrong because you are not me and I am always right." Uhm, ok, it's pretty slow at loading images on my end, but maybe that's the evil anti-DA dwarves who nibble on my t1 whenever I type your site's url into my browser.
And who here has discouraged deviantart? People were just voicing their opinions, mentioning what parts of each sites they like and don't like. It's the thin-skinned people like you who turn other people's commentary into "vicious attacks" with your seemingly infinite supply of bile. So you're not a site admin at DA then? Or do you just not hold yourself accountable for participating in the thread and turning it into a sob story because it's you, and you're special. Look, no one said deviantart is bad, I for one mentioned that I think it's a slick site with a lot of great features, but it's just not my cup of tea. Moreover, no one said that you can't visit both sites, since they obviously serve different interests to a certain extent. In conclusion, life is short, so stop picking fights where no one had an interest to begin with.
DeviantART loads faster than Custo for me. Regardless, I find I enjoy the community there, on a whole, moreso than Custo. Custo has a problem with revenge reviewers and general pranksters that just can't seem to do something humerous.
Either way, there's no point to this thread, it's all personal tastes. I will always have a home at Custo, DeviantART, and Deskmod.

Actually Skinsfac, i tend to agree with miriku. I'm not as bitingly sardonic about it, but he is a funny and intellegent guy.
However this conversation still continues to be pretty lame.
The cynicism involved in this conversation keeps getting more and more amusing/stupid though.
I really wish people would just realize that conversations like these are neither constructive nor helpful in anyway. The admins of the sites really don't care and don't much enjoy these threads, and nothing else happens except people get pissed off at each other for no other reason than the fact that they don't visit the same site (which doesn't make much sense since the threads all take place on one site). On a side note, miriku, I respect you and alls, but seriously, "it's about as artistic as my 13 year old "i am too a wiccan" cousin?" Customize doesn't hold a candle to DeviantART's artistic value. If you would take the time to peruse it, you would agree with me (If you have done so, and still disagree, then I would seriously question your criteria for art.) DeviantART has a large field to cover, and they do it extremely well, I can't even imagine how hard it would be to handle a site like that.

i think voicing your preferences is fine, as long as you realize the two sites are not in competition with each other and that they serve different purposes..
if you like the poetry at da, great. if you like the boards here, great. but bashing one site or the other will get you nowhere and you're not going to change anyones opinions by voicing your own, so voice your opinions, but please realize thats all you're doing...

If you bothered to read carefully, you'd realize that what I said was that this wasn't an "us vs. them" thread in an insulting sense until you and some others decided to get huffy over some valid criticism and declare that you're being attacked. By setting yourselves up as the poor-yet-noble victims you purposely create an atmosphere of conflict where before there was none. It's like you actually feed off the impression that you're being attacked, so when any negativity comes your way you have to turn it into another chapter in your ongoing inner melodrama.
I'm sick of these threads that start out with a valid discussion and degrade into petty arguments, which is exactly why I decided to post to begin with, but apparently you're too thin-skinned and/or unreasonable to understand that no one is saying "deviantart should die" or anything even resembling that.

See above. Although, I will add that the very fact that you would consider comparing criticism of a website to rape is pretty clear that you're WAY WAY WAY too sensitive about this: I mean, it's so ridiculous it's almost offensive.
ATM i like custo and the new deskmod the most. Gorman sure did a good job. Devart is too big (yet it has tons of nice stuff, i dont call it bad, im just saying its not my style) and wincusto is a little too elitist, sytardock and lame :P lotsofskins i never been to. ditto.
