I'm assuming it's a mouse you've plugged in to a port. Since the computer works otherwise, it could be an i/o problem with the port or the mouse. The first thing I'd do, aside from making sure no pins are bent on the mouse (assuming it's a ps/2 mouse), and make sure the port on the PC is clean and debris free. Another thing to try, would be to test a different, known-working mouse.
no its not a ps/2 mouse. i sorta wish it was. but its not. its the mouse that came with it. u know the little pad at the bottom? that one. and if i start to use the mouse it freezes on me and it sometimes freezes during startup before i even log into windows
i dont have another mouse. its the one thats on the little pad that comes with the computer. i dont know what to do. i tried safe mode again but the screen that comes up right b4 it allows me to log in it froze. its either freezing there or at the login area. im still unsure y and i need help
reformat. if that fails throw it in the trash. XD j/k but really, search for similar cases, you might get a Q&A site or FAQ or forum, something to that effect, remember, google is your friend ;)
it just freezes on bootup. i tried system recovery several times and deleted all the files and everything to put it in factory state and it still does it. i dont know y. anyone got any ideas?
no its not just when i use the mouse that it freezes up on me. it also does it just after a few minutes of turning it on. it sometimes freezes when it shows the windows screen
If you are having hardware problems...you might want to try reinstalling your device driver. If you don't know how to do this...there is a really easy "Help and Support" section in Windows XP for troubleshooting hardware problems. They might suggest something there that you haven't already thought of.
