Hey guys I was wondering if there's a litestep version for windows xp x64? The 32-bit LS version doesn't run correctly on the x64 platform. Thanks in advanced!
Yea, it's really sucks because I've been running LiteStep for about 6 years now...way before it was popular...now that I have went 64bit the only litestep I can run is on my laptop... :( hopefully they will get it done quickly and hopefully it will be compiled in 64bit and not just a 32 bit app working in x64...although, i would be happy either way.
xcal: it will happen...there is no other way...64bit is the way of the future. unless litestep is going to die out then there is no other way and I doubt it will die out
^^ that would be fine with me. If I could get it to work as a 32bit program I would be extremely happy. Windows Explorer plain SUCKS!!! no matter what visual style you add to it, it doesn't have the functionality and flexability that litestep and other shell replacements have. I can't stand not having a VWM...i'm used to have 8 different windows to work with...now i'm down to one and it's driving me insane!
"I can't stand not having a VWM..." Microsoft makes a VWM, or I should say, VDM that allows upto 4 Desktops at once, multiple wallpapers, quickswitch buttons and a overview button that displays all desktops at once.
- LiteStep compiled for x64 is a LONG way off, because all the modules are 32-bit and you can't load them into a 64-bit process.
- 32-bit LiteStep works fine on x64, except it cannot access the 64-bit system32 directory.
There is an easy way to disable the redirection that causes this problem, but we need the redirection for modules to load correctly. So the trick is getting it enabled in all of the right places and none of the wrong ones.
- Omar's installer does not disable Explorer as shell correctly.
There is apparently a fix for this, though I have not yet tested it myself: lsdev.org//forum_viewtopic.php?9.199
