the execution of the design is good. But the logo communicates nothing to me about what it represents. In that respect it fails completely.

It feels a little too washed out. I'd really like to see you branch out from inner/outer glows and drop shadows.
I don't like the drop shadow/reflection combination. It might just be a personal thing, but I think they look somewhat tacky when used together.
And you can add another vote for the logo conveying exactly nothing in terms of what the company it represents does.

It's good, but the next step is try to and stop relying on techniques built on tutorials and build your own style.

Another good example of how an innocent thread can turn wrong. WillyT asked for suggestions and opinions and already there is an "attack and defense." . once again why is almost every thread on customize.org lately turn in the direction of "attack and defend"? . try and help the community guys. . WillyT, you seem to have too many styles and techniques mixed into one medium. The techniques are pulled off good, but when you have too many in one design, you can just lose the impact. It's hard to make a logo also, if you don't know what exactly your making it for. . The lettering itself doesn't have that "pop" or that "edge", maybe try a more streamlined font. Also I would suggest combining the letters into a more solid shape. The way it's setup now, it seems too disjointed, there is no unity or connection between the 2 letters. . First of all, figure out what your going to use the logo for, then proceed from there. . Good luck mate, hope those few suggestions helped.

Newsflash: If you ask people what they think, they will probably tell you what they think. Wow. If they see something they don’t like, they will tell you so. Wow. I don’t see any unfavorable comments here, just crits on the execution, which he asked for. He’s the one that decided to whine after failing to understand a comment..
The post he decided to get pissy over was not attacking him in any way, it just offered the viewer's opinion, which Willy asked for. In fact gruneeitelkeit even called it "good".
" ive never even used a tutorial to make anything" Okay. If you actually read gruneeitelkeit's post, that's not what gruneeitelkeit said. He said your techniques are built from tuts. Not that you followed a specific tut to construct your logo.
But you say, correct me if I’m wrong, you've never looked at or gone through a photoshop tut? Your work suggests otherwise, because you seem to know a lot about Photoshop and the “popular” techniques. In fact, if you’re suggesting you've never looked at a photoshop tut, I would be of the opinion that you're a liar. At this point, I share gruneeitelkeit’s opinion your work usually looks like an amalgamation of a lot of popular tuts. If you somehow arrived at this popular, coomon, look all on your own, that’s very unfortunate for you. That’d be like writing a novel and finding out when you’re done that nearly the same thing had been published by someone else, word for word, without your knowledge.
If he doesn't want to hear what people honestly think about it, he shouldn't ask people for opinions on it. No one in the thread attacked him as far as I can see. Just offered opinions, which he asked for. If those opinions don't match what he wants to hear, too bad. Maybe he should qualify it by saying "Only crits that stroke my ego allowed".
If you really want to help the community, accept the fact you may not be totally awesome. If you’re not into that, go to www.pleaseblowsunshineupmyass.com.
No one ‘attacked” anything here.

c72: That link doesn't work, lol.
I agree w/ c72 as well. After all of this criticism, I would probably just trash the work, and start over w/ a whole new concept.

Thanks for understanding exactly what i was saying and sticking up for me c72. J3, WillyT, I stick by what I say, and i did not mean for it to sound attacking. The reflection, glass, and diagonal line techniques are way to cliche these days. If you really want to become an successful artist you want to create your own trademark and set yourself aside from the masses. It doesn't mean you can't use these common tut or techniques, just stop relying on them so heavily.
