lately ive been playing a lot of SNES games, and i really regret that i wasnt into rpgs as a kid. it took me 10 years to realize what gems these games are! so my question for you is, what were the best rpgs on snes? ive already gotten the classics (chrono trigger, all the snes final fantasies, secret of mana/seiken densetsu) but theres plenty of other good ones... which ones did you love?

Get an original NES emulator and snag the original Dragon Warrior. That was one hell of a game. And dont forget the Zelda games, they are true classics. But not Zelda 2. Zelda 2 was sacralidge.
harm.... Earth something... help me here... you play this kid with a big head and a little pet dog... Earthdawn, Earthquest... shaitt....
also, Zelda 3... the lord of the rings snes game i was hoping would be a clone of the computer one but turned out to be quite bad. i didnt even leave the shire before i got sick of the stupid "bring me a piece of cheese so i'll give you a pickaxe to give to the guy with the rabbit's ear" style gameplay
on the nes, i actually didnt like dragon warrior that much. crystalia and ff1 were both cool tho. ff2/3 i wasnt too keen on. 4 is a classic, 5 is a rad game never released in america (plays a bit like ff tactics) and 6 you all know as 3
oh, and sorry about not ranking since friday. i was "otherwise disposed" as well as slightly chemically imbalanced
ALL FFs (cept for mystic quest, that was just plain horrib), CT, TOP .. few more, but it's been a while since I played snes :-) I kinda grew out of it ;)
anyone ever played act raiser? now that was a weird game. you can see where black&white took most of its ideas from when you play the god mode of act raiser.
what about pipe dreams? i think it was only released in japan. either that or theynever translated it. it was a puzzle game in which you were given different shaped sections of pipe, and you had to link them all together so that the starting point of the game board was piped to the ending point, and you had to do it before the clock ran out. once the clock was up, sewage would seep from the starting point and through your pipes, and if you werent finished by the time the sewage got to your last pipe, the sewage would leak out, fill the board, and you were finished! its simple, but pretty addictive.
yoshi's cookie was also a very simple but fun and addictive puzzle game.. so was kirby's avalanche.. oh yeah and kirby's dream course was another weird one..
SNES ------ Super Mario RPG. I liked it. Don't laugh at me like that. Terranigma Illusion of Gaia Shadowrun. Bit complicated, but does a good job of the setting.
Genesis --------- Beyond Oasis. Very good action rpg.
---- Yes, I'm from Holland. No, I don't use drugs. I'm weird enough as it is.
oohhh yeeeahh.. shadowrun.. that was a real dark, cyberpunkish type thing with mutants and cyborgs and it was more zelda/secret of mana style than conventional rpg style, wasnt it?
yup. ended a bit too much of a "pick up the key and give it to the dog to get the translocator to give to the man on the moon to get a ..." kind of game for me tho
shadowrun owns, still haven't finished it yet. finished secret of mana without the ninth orb for the sword, what a shame. seiken densetsu 3 looks better but wasn't half as fun. FF6 (or FF3 in the U.S.) was gorgeous.
[suppose conventional wisdom to be a forest... you're squirrel, i am chainsaw.]
Ah ShadowRun. I stopped playing it, when I found out I'd have to spend two weeks gathering cash for a machine gun... *sigh*
And I actually completed Lord of the Rings. What a crap game it is.
By the way, Front Mission is in Japanese (so although I completed it multiple times, I don't get much of the storyline). It's more of a strategy game too.
Oh, and I forgot the king of rpgs, Inindo: Way of the Ninja, that game is so ugly it hurts, but the gameplay is great.
hey even thought this is extremely old 2001 i will say this you are idiots have you forgot about star ocean that is a great snes rpg you just need a translation patch by dejap it is seriosly the best rpg on the snes ever almost maybe well its up there with the ffs chrono trigger earthbound ect
