Also, can someone link me to the LATEST litestep module, i would appreciate it ;)

check how big the script is. the bigger it is or the more modules youre loading, the longer it will take to start up.

That login bug was fixed with RC3 (I believe it was that version). There is a 0.24.7 Final version, now. Be sure to update to that.
