I dont wtf is problem i done everything i can but even in nfs mw i get stucky prefermance i have p4 3000 ht 1791mb of ram 500 power sup with 12-24amp i dont know the only think i havent try is install windows again clean start might help? What do u think?
If that doesn't help, try setting your AGP Aperture Size to 256meg in BIOS (Just google AGP Aperture Size for a guide, or just rummage through your bios til you find the setting) 256 is the best setting for my system specifically, and since we have the same stats (exactly, actually) that should work well.
Another thing to check is that your power supply actually is connected to the side of your card. There's an input slot on the side of it for a cable, and if it's not hooked up your card will barely run at all.
Formatting is another good option as long as you backup of course, just in case your problem isn't outdated drivers or incorrect settings.
try using the drivers on the CD it came with. Also it's based off of the 7800 GT and it's going to have less performance because of AGP's transfer rates, so it's not a bad card, it's just because it's AGP, believe me I have a XFX 7800 GS XT and it's not that great. I would just return it and buy a PCI-e mobo and a 7800 GT or a GTX
Danny Nissan said : "Yes, it´s always recommended to do a reformat when you get new hardware. Otherwise, tehl3x has covered everything you normally should look on.
No offense, but are you on crack? Reformat for a new piece of hardware? My whole system is all new, but I didn't reformat. If I were to reformat everytime I installed a new piece of hardware, I wouldn't even bother with customizing/reshacking my Windows OS as it would be pointless and moot.
You shouldn't have to reformat when installing new hardware. Windows XP, all versions has this little thing where when you plug in new hardware and start 'er up and it finds that you have new hardware installed, and if it doesn't you can always go into control panel and try to manually install it, and if that doesn't work all you have to do is install thier drivers that come with the new hardware then upgrade or make your own drivers.
The only time you should be recommended reformatting is when you install a new motherboard. Seeing as the oringinal poster, zahodi, didn't specify he had a new motherboard installed. He shouldn't have to reformat his main HDD.
Try lowering your resolution when playing videogames, sometimes that does affect your gameplay in making it easier for the system to handle the game.
I am (was) not on crack. What i said is what i am being recommended by professionals and work with computers alot. Seeing as its their words, against yours, a member here on customize.org, i choose to listen to them. I mean, what would you do?
Also, when nothing helps, there´s only one thing remaining to do, and thats to reformat. A friend of mine also got the 7800GS. She had all kinds of troubles getting her games to run. Everything would crash etc because of this new piece of hardware. Explain this?
After trying everything there was to try, i told her to reformat and guided her through the steps. Everything works wonders now...
The 7800GS is a powerful card. There is no need to run games in 800X600 with this card. Something is wrong, and a reformat will tell us if its software or hardware related. He clearly has the power to run games like NFSMW.
Lol, I've had three different soundcards, two display adapters and I've changed the mobo and processor once, all on a 3 year old windows installation. So there really isn't a need to reinstall, as far as you know what you're doing. *hint* There is a "Safe mode" in windows, which is very helpful in installing new hardware, and resolving problems.
A reformat is a valid option, but it is an "easy" way out for people who don't know how, or care, to resolve the real problem. The "professionals" recommending it are likely suggesting it for that reason - as an assumption that the average user doesn't have the skill to troubleshoot pc issues.
Did you use a fresh install of your drivers? GPU drivers (and others) do goof sometimes if you dont remove the old drivers registry entries and etc, programs like "Driver Cleaner" work well for this.
just dont remove drivers for hardware you havent changed its irritating when your find somethings not working cuz you werent paying attention lol.
PS. yes i realize Nv uses universal drivers but that doesint mean it doesint change what i said above trust me.

Sadly, I can not vouch that the words I said are mine alone. Just about everyone I hang out with, has said not to reformat. It's pointless. The people I hangout with are IT Technicians, System and Software Programmers and the likes there of. As to what I would do? A google search or simply call up a friend who works with computers for a living and has done it once or twice, if I were say, non-educated in computers (A noob for you elite out there.).
"Also, when nothing helps, there´s only one thing remaining to do, and thats to reformat. A friend of mine also got the 7800GS. She had all kinds of troubles getting her games to run. Everything would crash etc because of this new piece of hardware. Explain this?"
Well, seeing as I do not know what other components she had in her computer, nor what version of what drivers she had, nor which operating system was in use, I can not clearly explain. But, from my experience, it would have been most likely a driver confliction.
I have a question for you. Do you normally reformat your system hard disk drive everytime you get a new piece of hardware, like say a new sound card, or hell even a wired keyboard? Both are hardware. What would you do?
If i, say, bought a new gpu, a X1800XT. And if games wouldnt work as they should, i would try drivers and the usual stuff. If i, later, ran out on ideas, i would of course try a reformat. What i wounld´t do is to just accept the fact that im getting low performance in games with a high-end card and start lowering settings in games. Can i live now?
The reason i mentioned a reformat was because it helped a friend of mine. We tried everything there is. Nothing would help. That means, several reinstalls of drivers following the correct instructions. So if is was a driver conflict, it certenly wasn´t fixed by reinstalling drivers. A reformat did it that time, and could fix things this time too.
And please, try to concentrate on helping people instead of correcting others. You wrote a whole lot about how wrong i was, yet you didnt do anything for the person in trouble.
I mean, if you have a solution for the problem, please come forward with it so that i don´t have to guess or recommend zahodi to do things that are totally unnecessary, according to you. However, if you´re not, then im not going to leave zahodi just stare at the low performance she is getting but actually recommend her to try things out, and i thought a reformat would be a good thing to do.
Im not questioning your computer skills, wich you seem to think i do. I totally respect the fact that you know a whole lot more than i ever will, but you still havent given zahodi anything to try. If reformat isnt what is to be done, what is? Isn´t that the most important thing? Or is arguing with me more important to you?
From now on, please try to help as much as you can and get this problem fixed. If you want to speak to me personally, then pm me and keep this topic clean.
Danny, I'm sorry you normally attract this type of response in these forums. amp.angel clearly took your recommendation to heart, and I'm sorry for that too. But seriously though amp, unless you were letting out some stress, I don't think there was much of a reason to lash out at someone to prove your prowess in computer skillz.
Aaaaaanyway, I don't think there's many more recommendations we can make to good ol' zahodi, not that he/she hasn't responded or told us any thing they've done. I'm sure there will be much more to bicker and argue about and more "pointless" images for colossus to make when he/she posts again.
