Another lame question... Is there any way i could change the windows icons sucha as the shortcut overlays or the folders, not one at a time, all in one command. I'd appreciate it... REALLY!
DO'NT BLAME ME!! IT'S JUST BECAUSE I'M NEW AT THIS...

IconTweaker (freeware) will allow you to remove and/or change the overlay that you see for shortcuts as well as the network-shared overlay. I highly recommend it, as it's very useful for a crapload of other little icon-related tidbits as well.
Easy way to change the icons for filetypes, hard drives, etc. Folder options -> Filetypes -> Click on what you want to change -> Advanced -> Change icon.
amp.angel: You're right, of course. But (and I don't know if anyone else has experienced this behaviour) I've had some iffy experiences changing stuff in that dialog... I remember mucking with folder icons when XP was still fairly new and it rendered my folder browsing behaviour completely haywire... instead of opening the folder in the same window, it would try and open the contents of the folder in some random installed application... upon a reboot, it would pick a different app to attempt opening the contents in. It was QUITE annoying, to say the least...
Besides, when there's freeware that does the job, and does it quite good I might add, why bother doing it all manually? Better efficiency is a good thing, no? :)
True, but a couple megs on the scale of hundreds of gigs these days? How big an impact is that really?
Plus, IconTweaker isn't a TSR - unlike most similarly capable apps - it only consumes CPU/RAM when you're actually using it to alter your icon settings. Once you apply your changes, hit close, and it's gone completely.
I know I must sound like I'm in some way involved in it, but truthfully I'm not. I just really like freeware that works like good software should. Simple, effective, and unobtrusive.
Seriously, give it a go. An hour if fiddling and you'll likely agree, it beats the hell out of navigating the file types dialogs. At least I think so.
Bite me Henry. Just make sure that when you do, make sure it's hard. RAWR. Anyways it's my laptop that has Vista default (newest) with the Media Center VS. Neener. My desktop is dead.
well, there´s one last thing i have to say, actually, i have been using the free version of iconpackager and it´s the same as icontweaker, and i was exploring a little and i found that iconpackager actually extracts an .icl file from the IconpackagerTheme, so i "translated" some iconpackager themes to icontweaker themes and icon libraries, cool, eh?
