well, 1)I don't have a massive music collection. (around 6gb or so) 2)I don't need to watch videos on a tiny screen when I have a widescreen at home. 3)I prefer the smaller nano rather than the larger and bulkier video
with the rumours (false hope) about what the new ipods would be, i'm kind of disappointed.. and i always thought the mini's designs were like the retarded cousins of the regular ipods.
Hello, yes, for the best choice about electronic products, here is a on-line store which offer us powerful information, including buying-guides and FAQ. Seeing is believing. Http://www.algogo.com Rgds,
@amp.angel - did you notice any battery life problems after installing iPL(iPod Linux)? I installed it on my first generation nano and i was only getting about 4 hours of battery life until i uninstalled it.
The ipodlinux video capability was cool, but you had to convert them into MASSIVE files. e.g. a 3 mb video file became 40 mb.
microsofts "zune" is assault against a honest customer!
read this: what the fucking hell is going on? please don't buy ms's zune!
Some of you might have already happened upon this by way of Slashdot, but it's become apparent recently that Microsoft's new Zune media player will force viral DRM onto every song wirelessly shared from it so that the song can be played only 3 times or for no longer than 3 days. If you're Madonna, this is probably great, but if you're an unknown, especially one like myself who releases their music with creative commons or in some other unrestricted form, this is very over the line.
xmarcusx, it makes sense for them to add the DRM to the wirelessly transferred music.
The person that sent the track has the rights to that track (if they actually bought the track in the first place) the person they're sending it to *doesnt* have the rights to that track. Transferring the track and being able to listen to it at all is a privilege for the person who had the track transferred to them. Microsoft would never implement a fully fledged P2P app into any hardware device, its a sensible approach theyre taking and one that makes sense.
Either way, theres going to be hacks floating about shortly after the player is released without a doubt.
if ms made a player that just beamed music wirelessly to anyone who wanted it who had the same player without drm they'd get the crap sued out of them.
Enspia, I have had no problems using it with my iPod nano 4gb. (Don't know it's generation.) I get pretty much the same battery life as if I were using the Nano's original OS. I don't play videos or games on it though, so maybe that is why I get about 12 hours of battery life.
Advent, I'd use Apples lossless maybe if I was using Mac OS X, iTunes and a Nano with it's original OS.
But seeing as I use Linux on my computer, with Linux on my nano, FLAC is the best encoder you can have. IMHO.
Well, as a certified Apple Sales Professional ranked in the top 100 in the world........
... ......
I own a Creative Zen Vision:M 30GB, lol.
I'm sorry, but the iPod's break down too often. Yes, I could use my Sales Professional techniques to convince someone to buy them, and yes, they're nice little units, but really, I've seen too many problems, and I'm kind of affraid of the ipod cult that everyone must have an ipod as their music player. I do however have a Macbook Pro and love that.
Hi everyone. I came across the topic on the internet and I have some questions (Please bare with me)
1. This DRM business...I would like to buy a new nano but I am worried that I wont be able to put music on it. I have maybe two songs from iTunes! Is this true that the nano wont be able to play any music except the ones downloaded from iTunes? And if so, is there a quick non-complicated way to make it play music not from the iTunes store?
2. This zune...what is the deal on this? How big is it compared to the ipods? When is it coming out? Should I be interested?
Thank you everyone for listening, and for the hell of it, I plan on buying a 8GB nano, but I just need to be sure Im buying something pleasurable and not something Im going to rip my hair out over...
I kinda of like the idea of Zune bringing some other options to the market, but what we need is a new quality product like the h340 from iRiver. There is nothing I can fault about it, except it being bulky!
Either way whether i use a iPod or a iRiver then is load up Rockbox (http://www.rockbox.org/) on it. much superior OS/shell whatever you want to call it.
note it doesn't support the new nano yet, but should do soon
