What's your view on Firefox 2.0? Plan to stick with the old or try 2.0? - There is a prelease of Firefox 2 final tomorrow, I'd think I'll just stick with 1.5 just for stability and security issues at the moment unless Firefox changes my mind.
a while back, i tried to switch the 2.0 beta, but for some reason the download link yielded only another copy of the 1.5 install package...it was odd, but yes i'll switch to 2.0 at least for awhile; i trust mozilla to release a quality product.
I'm still sticking to Firefox 0.8; mostly, it's just laziness, but I see no reason to try fixing something that, from what I can see, is far from broken.
I've been using 2.0 since 10/6, and haven't had any problems other than some minor compatibility issues. I used Nightly Tester Tools to force my extensions to be active, but had to disable TabMix Plus because I think it conflicted with some of 2.0's new built-in tab features.
The "Smoke" theme also doesn't work (some of the graphics are stretched), but the new default theme is really nice, so I stuck with that.
Built-in spell check is cool too.
Overall, I wouldn't say it's a revolutionary difference, but I would recommend that you give it a try and see how you like it. If it doesn't suit your personal tastes, I don't see any harm in staying with 1.5 for the time being.
All except one of my extensions work (minimize to tray), so that's pretty good. The theme I was using (vista) isn't updated yet, but it's okay since the default theme is decent. Best improvement is probably the spell check. Other than that, don't really notice a performance difference.
Just trying out the new version and its pretty shit, cant acces the menux menu and get into the propties menu also and now the addy bar cant be modified like the windows addy bar so i got to look at a ugly address bar with down arror and go button, it is a nice silver colour though., damn i want to change back mummyyyyy!
already on 2.0 here... didn't really want to switch but one of the theme I wanted to use was only compatible with 2.0 so I had to (yes I'm vain)
not seeing a dramatic difference yet... tho supposedly the 2.0 theme supports alpha blending or something like that? could be wrong, didn't read all the details
Yea I've had quite a few issues with FF2.0 right off the bat....namely, almost none of my extensions worked, and the overall appearance of the addy bar/search box were skewed, thus, a revert back to 1.5 was in order...I can wait.
When I transferred to FF2, same thing happened, most of my plugins didn't work, what a bummer. There isn't much of a change, few tweaks here and there..
