multiple comments & comment tree structure (with reply feature) should be good :) sometimes I'm confused when reading comments that's chronologically weird (2nd comment replying to 5th comment etc.)
for the ranking system, I'm happy with whichever brings less suffer to the admins that has to rank everything everyday
browsing archived featured subs :)
a larger layout of the website, I assume most of the custoers have at least 1024x768 screen, so maybe something to view full page in that size, or bigger (not just a stretchy site skin)
basically, deviantart without the artsy fartsy XD (hope I'm not being too honest there)

It is not hard to rank submissions. When admins aren't ranking submissions its because they are burnt out or just don't want to do it. Not because its hard. Its not hard.
I think the most important feature of really any site is to have an owner(s) who are involved in the site and care about it, as well as the staff.
i'd like to see a community website that keeps design groups and artists interested, such as having a cover article on each every two weeks or so. something that will help those who provide us with their lovely releases by giving them exposure and credit. and a way for the groups to communicate their progress to everyone, like a blog for each big/significant group/artist.
also, an edit function on the forums.
and some sort of regular contest for all types of customisation.
Well, no admin rankings. Worst thing about this site.
For user rankings, I'd add a special checkbox...
"Check here to indicate the 100% score you are about to submit is a fanboi rating and you realize if you had an ounce of objectivity, you'd be scoring much less."
There's alot to be done to bring custo out from the shade... and not much incentive as the customize community is shrinking fast... not knowing the direction from our site owner also doesn't help.
Programmers pull out your safety helmets, it could well be community building time!
nothing. been a member here since '02 and im content with the site. granted ive dealt with a lot of bullshit from people in the past, but hey you cant chagne that people are people. perhaps id chagne nothing bceause im not as -active- as many people here, especially since the only reason i come is for the work others have done. but having that said, from my perspective and how i use this site, id change nothing.
