I love the DS Lite, but PSP is good to, if you don't want to spend the money, then DS but PSP has more features.

personally i would go with the DS because the games are just more fun and you don't have to play through it, you can just pick it up when ever.

DS and the DS Lite are the same price $129

For strict gaming, the DS is probably better, but for a multi-purpose system, the PSP has a ton of potential if you're willing to hack it a bit. I've got a PSP, and love it.
