And yes, people do still listen to "emo". I guess i'm one of them, but I don't sit in the corner and cry or anything, I just think some of it's pretty chill, and has a good sound.
Don't Mug Yourself is tight if I remember, isn't that with a chick singer in it too? I think it was a kinda mellow song if I remember right. But, yea, good stuff
Elliott Smith - From A Basement On The Hill The Postal Service - Give Up B'z - BIG MACHINE (Japanese, I'm recommending it because in my opinion every single song on that album was great) The Pillows - MY FOOT (Japanese, it's sort of like them going back to their roots, it sounds very good) The Arcade Fire - Neon Bible Foo Fighters - The Color And The Shape (In my opinion this album is much better than their current stuff) Say Hi To Your Mom - Numbers and Mumbles Rilo Kiley - More Adventurous
Yeah, I listened to them for the first time not long ago either and got deeply in love, and they have such an amazing subversive history......
Their concerts were secrets, no official releases, the guy just saw the E.P.I. and got nuts and decided to make his own revolution in Japan, in the 60's, man.......
They are a perfect example of the Situationism that Tab had putted on GSM.
@Damzk: Hey hey The Dead C from down here in lil ol New Zealand -- like a lot of our musical exports they're largely unknown in NZ but hugely respected out there.
Is this Situationism not far removed from the Fluxus movement of the 50's/60's? What with their Happenings and all? I think it was Beck's grandad that created the Happenings art/drama ideology. Makes sense when you watch the video for The New Pollution.
If any of you guys is into ska, the album Dances of Resistance by Babylon Circus is great too! I'm not a ska listener myself, but i saw this group preform live last June and i have to say that i really enjoyed it.
if you want an album to sink your teeth into and discover something new everytime you listen, then go and get a copy of Brand New - The Devil and God Are Raging Inside Me.
