well according with http://www.vgcharts.org/, the wii just hit the 6 million units sold. In 4 months. The 360 is in the way to hit the 10 millions and the PS3 barely surpasses the 2 millions. I for sure, think that the Wii, gonna win this round.
I don't think about it as one big fight anymore, I've gotten really tired of the fanboyism following VG brands. Each system has good games, each system has a reason to be bought the only thing I put into question is the prices of each. I can't afford a PS3 but can afford a Wii, I'll probably buy both in the long run though (but not a 360, being I haven't seen many games I would personally prefer with the exclusion of dead rising).
On the subject of sales? Wii should get ahead because it's hot, sexy and well priced, Nintendo has reinvented their band image with the DS and Wii, they are now "cool".
It doesn't make sense to purchase both a 360 and a ps3 just because there's nearly no games worth getting that are exclusive to any console. Patience in waiting for price drops will pay off this round.
the DS brought me back to the world of games... i picked up a wii because of it's pricepoint, footprint, industrial design, and social aspect... i've only really played with people around (excluding zelda)... i wouldnt call myself a hardcore gamer or fanboy. they're just fun to pick up and play. im glad to see nintendo get its feet back
Until they put CS:S, BF2, and Guild Wars on console, my main machine shall remain to be my PC. i have the drivers for the Wiimote on my PC, it was the only reason i purchased a bluetooth adapter.
i would however love a PS3 (for resistance and LAIR) :D
most main 360 titles dome out on pc anyway, and i dont see any reason in shelling out 400 bucks to play games i already have on my PC. (fear, oblivion etc. and pretty soon alan wake and bioshock will be in my hands)
I mean- think about it. If all the consoles were say.. 100 Dollars for a week. Who would get the best sales then?
I'd rather have a good quality, high priced PS3, then a fair quality, low priced Wii.
I want the bang for the buck! I already have a Wii so that's enough for me right now.
And the games that were originally supposted to bring out the record-breaking sales (IE: Zelda, Soon to be Halo 3) I think, really aren't going to have that much sales. Games like Gears of War and such are lessing the shine of the 'Jewel' Games.
@jeffword: unfortunately, at least in Australia, there is a $600 price difference between the PS3 and the Wii, which is why most people are opting for the latter.
I have a Wii, love it. I have a 360, love it. I will never buy a Playstation of any kind. Nothing fanboy about it, just that kids with Playstation always made fun of kids with 64, so I will hate it forever. It's kind of a subconscious barrier.
I'm a PC guy; I think a mouse offers much better control for shooters (COD on PC is way better than the one for 360--I couldn't aim at all using an analog stick.)
Also, in support of PCs, I have one more word for you:
I couldn't possibly spend $250 (being the cheapest price) on a system, besides when the first come out the games take forever to start rolling out. However if ya wait a while it all comes down in price and you can afford a system with a nice amount of games.
But currently I'm quite happy in stealing my brothers PS2 and playing the games they have available on there. Heck even our old games we still have.
All though if I had to choose I would indeed get a Wii for the pricing and the fun with groups of people. But I have always liked PS better.
it will defenetly be wii or the 360, but the ps3 is too expencive for me. when halo 3 comes out though the 360 will sell a lot more. on the other hant though the wii is comming out with a lot of good game in the summer and the wii is just plain fun.
