Skinning the OUTSIDE of your computer

FrogBoy says:

Companies such as "SkinIt" have actually started to make a pretty good living out of letting users "skin" the outside of their computers -- their cases.

The idea being that they team up with an OEM (like Dell) and a user can then tell Dell to have their laptop or whatever have what is essentially a sticker put on the outside to give it its own unique look.

So you could, for instance, have a Miami Dolphins styled laptop (externally).

Does anyone here do this and if you have, what did you think of it? What do others think of this concept?

I threw one of these together for my laptop from some character images that I had to hand. I think it's a really neat way to individualize your hardware - and, in my case, identify me from a distance.

As you say, it's basically just a custom-printed sticker, so it's easy to put on. Even better, doing so decreases the chance that anyone else would want to steal it. Unlike all other Dell laptops out there, it's easily identifiable. Of course, a thief could just peel it off, but chances are they don't know that . . .

The image there looks a bit blurry, but that's because one of the images I used was relatively low-resolution. The printing quality is good and I have not had any problems with it coming off accidentally.

Someone asked me to make a skin for their desktop based on one of my designs. I didn't get any of the photos he took of it, but it should have looked something like this:

Commodore have relaunched with high spec gaming desktops. They have a fair few different paint jobs available
