mp3 player recommendations

...other than iPods :)
I'm looking for a 20gb or bigger size, photo and video is optional, but all I'm looking for is basically something that's PC-friendly and not too bulgy on the pocket.

Definitely go for the ZV:M. Syncs with winamp perfectly, and you can just drag and drop individual files too. The battery also lasts much longer than the ipod, and (unlike my old ipod), it ACTUALLY WORKS.

ahh ZV:M or Iaudio X5 would be my two recomendations , the ZV:M has got that scratchy surface, but the iaudio has got that nice textured metal surface, built like a tank it is. another plus is how the iaudio X5 works with rockbox too, which i think isnt on the ZV:M. The sound quality is really both excellent on these too, so you can't go wrong there on whichever you chose. A plus the ZV:M has over the iAudio X5 is the bigger screen for viewing movies and what not but if music is your prime go with iAudio X5 especially paired with Rockbox, which gives you the options to play any other codecs, ogg vorbis ,etc.
One last thing is that both of these players come with a little plastic dongle thing you got to attach at the dock port at the bottom of the player, this thing charges, adds music, etc. lose it and you are *ucked. Other than those little problems they are both excellent players.

ah yes the zen vision M, I got my eyes on those since last year. all I'm worried about is how thick it is, but other than that the specs are very pleasing :)

I'm gonna have to say the zen as well, I've had mine for a while and it works perfectly, really love the battery time.
The only downside is that yea it is a bit thick but I haven't been bothered about it no matter what I'm wearing.
Oh and it scratches easy but theres lots of work arounds, how to get it protected and you can polish those scratches away.

I have this one here with 2GB. If you don´t need a big space it´s a small and easy to use player with a good battery life

Yeah, Aakio I'd agree, those things were so hot and functional, took a while for me to get it hooked up with winamp all fine. (Sonicstage sucks). I really like Sony's MP3 players as of recent.

well iRiver has always been a favourite of mine, but they are yet to bring out another really good large capacity unit for a while. They had video long before the ipod ... but they've seemed to switch their focus to smaller gadget style mp3 players

rush68. Yeah, SonicStage sucks ass! Sony is coming up with a new player, read about that one day after i got my iPod, it will play video's too. It looks superb, but the size is a little too small for me (i like to carry around other files too, like dvd iso's), only a 8 gigs.
