I've run into this problem where some games have a native res of 640 x 480, Starcraft for instance is but a small square on my 22 inch wide screen. Is any else experiencing this issue with other games?
Is it a emulator you're using, I believe on one I had tried it had an option to make the res bigger? But as I have a 1440x900 screen now and it doesn't feel to big, tiny res games don't seem that small.
There's two ways to do it, depending on your monitor and video card. On my 24" widescreen, there's an option for Scaling in the popup menu you get when you hit the button on the monitor itself. You can also set this in you video card's control panel. I believe on nvidia cards, it's in Display->Flat Panel Scaling in the Forceware control panel. For ati cards, it's somewhere in the Display section of the Catalyst Control thing.
On my particular monitor I can set it to Scale to fill the entire screen or Scale to the height of the screen, leaving black bars on the side. If I remember right, it's better to try and set it on the monitor if you have the option.
Thanks for the help :) I think its time to upgrade my videocard. I found this forum. Entire forum dedicated to widescreen gaming and things of this nature http://www.widescreengamingforum.com
