Change icons when not using explorer.exe

I use Iconpackager, it's really easy ;)

you can use Icon Packager(30 day trail) or Icon Tweaker (Free)

Google the names and you will find them :)

IconPhile is good, too.

I don't use explorer and I can't use any of those apps. Reshacking seems to be the only solution. That or using a patcher like the super tango one, but it doesn't look too great with darker themes.

Can you use Icon Packager together with litestep`????

You can use IP with LS - just make the icon changes in the Explorer shell - then swap to the LiteStep shell, done!
I've been using both for years, no problems.

The Mekon: that works as long as you don't change how the icons are viewed, ie switch between icon and detail view and you'll probably get your old win icons, I always reshack when I use Litestep. ...btw if you only want to change folder and hdd icons, that's just a 5 min job reshacking ;)

Reshacking is really the way to go. 'Tis better to do a good job then a lazy job.

And there's a few shell32.dll replacements out there, ya just gotta make sure it's the same version of XP that you're using.

Iconpackager/Iconphile never worked for me when using Litestep. I've tried setting the icons while using explorer as a shell then relogging in with Litestep: it'll just bring me back to the default icons.

As Pyro mentioned, Reshacking is the way to go.

aMADme - never had that problem. Icons, once set, tend to stay the way I want 'em. Sometimes apps take over, but thats easy to figure...

I actually used IconPackager before i switched from explorer.exe to LS, but then the icons swopped to the original ones. But when i did it recently (on my laptop) it didn't swooped, so i guess it works. Besides, my moron dell comp. needs a format.
