noka that's a tough one man. but i guess i'll have to say ummmm....... Helmet's cd called Meantime. just awesome. Kind of old, it's from 1992. Good New York rock. :)
Noka: More like rock, with influences of old swedish punk. It's called "progg" in swedish.. Dont know if there's a good word for it in english... ;[ (or if it's called progg in english too) http://www.last.fm/music/Nationalteatern

"Getz/Gilberto" from Stan Getz, João Gilberto and Antonio Carlos Jobim. Not the album I listen more, but not only is my fav, it is also the best LP I have.
"High Land, Hard Rain" by Aztec Camera. It's a fucking masterpiece -- so good that it actually makes me curse, and very few things can lay claim to that.
Foo Fighters- In Your Honor No matter how many times i listen to it, it always amazes me. Incubus- Light Grenades At first, i thought it was crap. Later on, it came to be one of my favorite cd's
i honestly believe a truly diverse music appreciation can't be diminished to one album.
that being said, here's a start from my end:
-the stooges - funhouse -pink floyd - umma gumma, wish you were here -led zeppelin - bbc sessions -jimi hendrix - blues -cream - disraeli gears -notorious big - ready to die
i could go on, and on, and on. it's impossible for me to name just one album, from just one artist, from just one 'genre'.
i hereby condemn this thread. OP, take no offense, I had to offer a similar response to a topic over @ GSM not too long ago.
Autechre - Tri Repetae++ (it would be the album chosen, is just so damn cool, dynamic; with so many layers of sounds to be discovered, a real musical masterpiece)
Pink Floyd - Dark Side of the Moon Aphex Twin - I Care Because you do Señor Coconut - El Baile Alemán RHCP - Californication can't be out
If it was like to send on a spaceship, no doubt "The Velvet Underground & Nico". Somewhere inside that has a scrap to pretty much everything that came after, excepting, maybe, electronic music.
Now, if it was like the best, we would have to go on a year basis and see what would happen........
Nowadays even the unheard groups have wonderful sounds, so compilation albums made by your ownself works for the best album thingy, but as an whole album I can say most of Pink Floyd albums are good enough to be the best, Dark Side of the Moon is a good example for me (;
"Bloc Party - Silent Alarm" easily my fave of the last few years but i could never pick an outright winner- it's like being asked which limb don't you want cut off?!
