i, for one, haven't submitted anything in awhile because i've been busy with a bunch of other shit...i will definitely try my best to get my entry to the contest polished.
I think some of the crappy artists don't realize that they are crappy and feel they aren't getting 'recognized' at deviantart and are coming here.
i agree to some extent...tho deviantart deals with a lot more formats. in either case, speaking of dA and the subpar shit we've been dealing with in droves on this site, 9/10 times it's a wallpaper. we should change the wallpaper submission protocol somehow.
I guess it's the lack of free time.. producing quality stuff usually takes a bit longer (pepijn, you are an exception ;D). On top of being busy, my primary interests have changed a little, so there's not much room left for customizing.
While we may only really see poor wallpapers most of the time, We still get more shitty visual styles etc. than I would like to see (and I'm sure others agree with me)
I think allot of the wallpaper on here for example can seem out of place. However with the right do-da's and thingy ma-bobbs it look crazy good. I have been wondering thou, what qualify's as a good submission/screenshot to you guys.
I'm very new to the community and I'm not much of an artist. Like Synergy said, I took the step from DA to Customize even though I lack the skills of many of you guys.
I may not be a good customizer, though some of us try to put up things they like on their spare time.
By joining here, I just wanted to show what I can do and wanted to have feedbacks on my works so that I can improve...
(For now I have not uploaded here all my DA submissions... mostly Linux oriented... pimpmoth.deviantart.com, if you want to have a look)...
Thomax said that every submission was top notch when he signed up, so What I wanted to know was if customize.org was only dedicated to skilled custoers ?
Though I agree that th submissions synergy showed are somehow ugly...

no, anyone can sign up & submit.
looking at your screenshots/themes, they aren't half bad. submitting them here would be perfectly acceptable imo. the key to successful membership at this site isn't necessarily submitting flawless work off the bat, it's submitting to the best of your ability and then learning/taking criticisms from senior users and applying them to your future submissions.
Thanks. I do not know how good and how numerous were people when you signed up, but I still see here many good submissions quite frequently (I may not be very active as a user, but I come here a lot !)
Linux Custo is also popping out a lot. I was also wondering what was the impact of Vista on the custo world (being a linux only user, I cannot say...)
I believe a large portion of the problem from people failing to see the artwork present in user interface design. In my opinion, Those who submit what we see as poor quality work fail to fully comprehend the amount of thought and work put into making even a decent theme / style / wallpaper etc. As such, they put very little time into their own work and it ends up horribly.
I'm glad to see a lot more GNU / Linux custoers here now that when I joined. (Maybe in about September or so) I've always thought that GNU / Linux (I'm trying to train myself to say it 'right') was ripe for the picking when it came to custoing, but it wasn't utilized fully for quite some time.
And FGD - the themes on your deviantart are rather good. Not quite my style, but good none the less.
(I'm also glad to see this evolve into a genuine conversation rather than ending in bitter arguments and references to Nazis.)
