here's a freeware calendar app i just found. it has tons of features - alarms, todo list, events, export to csv and html, network support, and more.

it's not much to look at when you download it, but don't give up so quick. first of all, it offers lots of customization options already - colors, fonts, string formats, etc. and it resizes dynamically so it can be whatever size you want. toolbars and status bar can be turned off too.

but it's also a perfect candidate for reshacker. once you add a style manifest to enable your visual style to show through, and change the way a few buttons are drawn so they fit in with the rest, you can have fun setting it up the way you want. the few toolbars on the main menu are set up as dialogs so you can switch things around easily. you can even customize the tray icon and menu with ease.

the best part is that it closes to your system tray, and if you set it to only allow one instance, then calling the exe brings it back into focus, making it perfect for assigning to a dock icon or hotkey. it runs in the background using about 1.3 mb of RAM, and it pops up whenever you need it.

i've been trying to add an accelerator to make it close to the tray when i press ESC, but i have yet to figure that out...

oh, and it comes in a fully portable version so it's easy to back up, and doesn't write anything to the registry, so you can run it from a thumb drive.

anyway i thought i'd share. i've always liked the idea of an app like rainlendar but never wanted it to live on my desktop. this one has more functionality, and is fun to tweak :)

oh - the only thing i can't do in reshacker is remove the caption bar text. it says Kalendar and the name of the data file that's open. oh well...
