i've got that message too in my laptop, i deleted the i386 folder...and it worked fine with VS (but no with my LS), just had to download the "windows installer" after the update (because i guess it was contained in the i386 folder...
because i'm using litestep, i undone the update by using "system restore" tool
*Again, TURN ON THE SYSTEM RESTORE tool before doin' sumthin' and create a "restore point"
it does help but im not using litestep. and im tryin to do this with limited down time (eg. having to redownload any os files needed...) is there specific files to delete by themselves so i can by-pass all the extra downloading? and again, not using litestep, so no system restore points for me...thanks alot though nosphere, greatly appreciated....
hi man, what i was saying is that you can delete all the i386 folder without problems ...except the Windows installer missing file problem (or at least this is the only problm i've noticed)
...if you say about deleting just an specific file, i dunno :S
I created an account just to answer this question.
Go to Start> My Computer> C: > WINDOWS
Then locate the either i386 folder or I386 folder. Then rename this folder into either i386 (or I386) Backup. (Basically you just have to change that folders name, call it whatever you want- something reasonable of course) Then run UXTheme and it should work!
