Art as a form of expression is a modern idea. Many are expressive (even skin wise), but those are the obviously art though. The others are works of creativity and skill, and take artistic talent to create.
You can also compar many to existing accepted forms of art. Portates, landscapes, abstract, nature... many seem to be semi-inspired by the arora borialus if yu think about it. Taking such things and looking at them in a new way is an art in itself.
thinking about it, when i went to the national portrait gallery (in london) there was a small 14" monitor showing a photo-manipulated face morphing between frames (blantently made in photoshop and started as a wallpaper!)
