Ok.. so i visit this site daily.. check out all the new submissions.. get new ideas.. sometimes i submit my own stuff.. just like a lot of you.. anyways.. here is what i'm wondering.. its hard to explain.. but ill try my best..
ok.. you need the adverts to pay for the bandwidth.. but the adverts take up the bandwidth.. you have adverts taking up bandwidth on your high server load pages.. popups on every page.. im just wondering.. if youve hit the saturation point.. youre ending up wasting more bandwidth with the extreme amount of adverts.. and paying a higher amount.. and i just see it it getting worse..

right now.. 20GB throughput bandwidth(guesstimate) and the cost.. 2G/moth
now.. to get your two grand to pay for the bandwidth.. you have adverts.. and .. more adverts you have.. the more bandwidth you use.. so now your bandwidth usage hits 25GB/month... and that will cost 2500$/month now.. so how you recoup the costs? more adverts.. and the cycle continues..
now.. you could say.. whats so wrong with that.. well.. a few things.. 1.. slows down the inet.. really.. it does.. lol.. because sooner or later.. youre using 100x the amount of bw.. and it just keeps climbing.. and 2.. users start to hate all the annoying adverts.. when it comes to adverts.. the more the merrier does not apply.. :p
im sure my amounts are way way off.. but im just giving an example..
now.. i should clear something up.. i am not against adverts.. be them popup, popunder, popoff, popontop or whatever.. its the only way to keep a site subscription free.. but there is a saturation point.. and im wondering if any of the admins here see it my way...

Right click on the ads and you'll see the ads come from a different server. So they arn't taking away from custos bandwidth. PS, I have neverseen a pop up on custo, mebbe it's cause i have doubleclick.net blocked so IE wont run any scripts from there...

sorry.. i dont click on the ads.. so i had no idea they came from another svr.. as for custo popups.. yes.. there are plenty of em.. 3 so far.. just coming here :( ..
but if the adverts were kept on this svr.. then the problem would still exist.. and 10k, 100k.. still.. quite a bit when you add it all up..
anyways.. it was just something i had in my head.. all good now :)
Yes, definitely creative Digerati =) I guess first of all, the high load screen is due to the server load, not the bandwidth. If we didn't do that, the server would be crashing all the time.
But, if I understand what you are saying, ad file sizes aren't large enough to have that kind of effect in the big picture. All ad agencies have max file sizes companies can submit, so it should never reach the point where the cost to serve the ad compared to the money the ad is making leads to your picture. Not so much these days, but when a page is loaded with an ad, the bandwidth cost of that page should only be a fraction of the amount the ad is generating.
