I just uploaded my work on this site. I know i am not a good designer or a winamp skin maker. But i dont know what kind of people are in the administration of this website. Every body gave me comments like i am their enemy. U can say just i dont like this wallpaper or skin. I made all my skins in winamp skin maker 1.2 then what is the harm in that. Why i made it on this software because i dont know how to edit the buttons. I think people shold help me in that rather than giving hatefull comments. I really feel very bad when i visit this site and view the comments of users of this site....
If you think that's a bad comment, you have seen nothing yet. Someone saying "I don't like it" is not very constructive, but certainly is not a personal attack.
look at all the other winamp skins submitted to this site. now look at yours. there is a big difference. it is nice you are a beginner. go look for some tutorials on how to change your buttons or whatever and try again. i used the same program you did, like 3 years ago and i would never submit those here. i was just doing it for the fun of it. now i don't think anybody was making hateful comments towards you. i know i said "not much here" and thats about it because thats all i saw. you can say "hey i can make a jumpshot in my driveway so I am going to join the NBA" and you can't post your first ever winamp skin and expect peopel to like it when others actually design and code their skins while you use a program. it is good that you at least tried to start skinning. search the web for some tutorials, learn some things and then come back and prove us wrong
I think everyone was pretty nice, considering the quality of the work. Next time instead of making 5 or whatever passable skins, make one great one. Keep going.
someday you will drive your sony to the sony to pick up some more sony
At least they took the time to comment. Some of the comments actually looked fairly constructive. It takes a *very* long time to become a good skin artist. Best thing to do is to get thick skinned and keep trying.
ashan: personally, i dont think the comments you received were overly discouraging, but then again, everyone has their own perspective. since you are new to skinning, you can't expect to be great right away. i suggest you use this experience to encourage yourself to work harder and keep at it. after a while, when you think you've made a lot of progress, upload another skin.
here ashan.. go here.. http://www.winamp.com/nsdn/winamp2x/dev/skins/wvs.jhtml read up on that.. its good stuff.. im working on my first skin too..have been for a week now.. but with exams and stuff i havent had the most time..but when ill finish it sometime.. anyway.. this will help you with the buttons etc
yeah everyone here is really pickey... now i dont submit all my work here becuase i get flamed on anything thats might not be better then the wallpaper next to mine goto dev art, they wont discourage you as much
PhYrE ArMs, I understand how you feel. Being as admins, we try hard to help users out, but Darksheer put it great one time "It's hard to come up with full blown reviews for everything out there that looks the same".
The people here, I can say, are mostly inconsiderate kids. But you have to look past that. If YOU are happy with your work, that's all that matters. I've grown to ignore them and just blow it off (Have you seen how many revenge reviews I have on my material?).
And if anything, DevArt is worse. Great site, but the community doesn't do much more than anyone else. Hell, 75% of posts are "woohoo, first post!"
In anycase, the only thing you can possibly do is just appreciate what you have done for yourself. After all, YOU are the artist, we are just the reviewers. If somebody gave me a crappy critique like that (and they have), I would just be like "ok, whatever. You don't know what your talking about. Shutup." =)
i have to agree with rkenshin - you have to be your own biggest fan. i submitted a couple of wallpapers here and i really liked them, but no one else seemed to. but that's okay cause i created them for my desktop and wanted to share them with other people in case they wanted them behind their icons.
if anyone doesnt post anything Constructive or is a compliment it most likely means its not there taste and they inturn dont like it . when people give me Nonconstructive comments i ignore them and think..... what he doesnt like Someone else will and that there allways is a handful of people that are hateful and have nothing better to do than to Dis the work of others ... ^_^
I have posted a few mean things in the past :/ but mostly constructive/silly/nice things...i tend to lean to silliness (as per my nature). But remember...
ahsan_pervaiz: i still love you ... you sexy stranger you :B
