my computer is on strike. winxp won't load into windows. i get at menu saying something is wrong and lists a few possible errors, and gives me five different startup options. none of them work. three different failproof modes, one with latest working config, and one with normal windows start. the two later gives me a blue screen (not bsod) for half a second then reeboots. the failproof modes just reboots. and i'm back at the menu. the blue screen says something like: register error, /systemroot/system32/config/SOFTWARE unable to write to or damaged. then it says something about dumping physical memory, before it reboots. i installed wc3 yesterday, and never rebooted, we also had some power blackouts this morning, other than that, nothing out of the ordinary.
can this be fixed? does it work if i reinstall xp? has anyone else had this problem?
i'm on an old computer right now, and for some reason internet is slooow. i have nowhere else to turn right now (trying to d/l mirc at currently 676 BYTES/second =( please help X/
