aside from the obvious "litestep is free" argument, anyway. i'm a relative desktop tweaking n00b here and i've played with litestep for a while, and liked what it offered.. i've heard a lot of good things about hoverdesk, but installed the demo and promptly went on vacation, essentially nullifying any real play time i had with it (it's 30 day limited)... so, pretty much, any and all opinions on the matter are welcome. at least tell me if i'm trying to compare apples to oranges, here...
you'll be able to test hoverdesk soon : the new release 2.50 is coming really shortly.
regarding the litestep/hoverdesk pro and cons, i prefer to let you make your own opinion. I think it's more a user choice (to select the one which better feeds your needs) oh, and since i'm the coder of hvd, i don't want to give you a biased opinion =]
LiteStep's certainly got much more options, with literally hundreds of modules to do nearly anything you could ever want, and a great scripting module to make themes more dynamic.
LS might be more "powerfull" compaired to HvD, but it can a hell of a drag to install, HvD got it's own installer!! So if you're a newbie to computers, LS ain't the thing for you! And HvD is way more easier to create themes for... :)
and now Thib.... GET THAT UPDATE FINISHED!!!!!!!!!!!! ;) ;)
i'm not a computer newbie, just a desktop tweaking newbie. installing litestep wasn't too bad, nor was configuring it.. i just find that installing themes and whatnot, i find things here and there that i like, but to pick and choose what i want seems to be a pain... although that litestep installer linked above is pretty sweet. made the job a lot easier :o)
there must be some hoverdesk users out here! why do you like hoverdesk? why do you use it?
