winamp 3 isn't that bad.... i have it, and have been using it since the early alpha versions... it still doesn't have all the features i'd like it to, but it is still early production... i believe they wanted to get a stable version, then add the extra features afterwards... i still use 2.80 more since i can use my DFX plug-in with it though...
Unless something dramatic happens, I don't think I'll ever quit using Winamp 2.x. I do use other programs for custo purposes and for an occassional break, but by and large, 2.x is the best mp3 player ever. It's rock solid, resource friendly (I can run it with Photoshop and Internet Explorer 5 on a Pentium 120!!), and dependable. I can load any skin and know instantly what everything does and where all my buttons are. It's not loaded down with useless extras.
i have winamp 2.80, sonique, and winamp 3.0 loaded on my machine. I use wa 2.80 by far most of the time. i agree with status about the buttons. winamp 3 is a great program if a little res heavy, but when you load up a skin, you never know where all the buttons are going to be or even if it will have certain buttons. i loaded up one skin and it took me 3 days to figure out how to open the thinger. i like the flexibility of winamp and sonique, but because there is no standard for button placement and stuff, they will never be my main media player. like petecee said, just for screenies!!
i dunno, i'm sticking with winamp 2.8 for now. because of the aforementioned reasons. and as i have pointed out previously, all the rest of the windows on your computer (unless you tweak your desktop lots) are square, my media player is too. But when i'm feeling frisky, i bust out winamp3, its pretty.
