yeah, customize needs a chatterbox, otherwise it'll loose the one things we have come to love so much.. spam ;] No, honestly, a chatterbox would be a good feature for custo to have. People can blab when they need to. Releasing them from a feeling of boredom... for about 1 minute.
I think too many sites now have Shoutbox's. It's becoming annoying to see. The bigger problem for me dealing with them is see the entire conversation. All I end up seeing is them laughing at the end or just yelling at each other for no reason.
no, do not put a damn chatterbox, it's a messaeboard killer and custo is famous for at least that, just please don't go there. Leave it the way it is. Trust me is one thing I learned in this business is you can't please everyone all of the time. Do what's beest for the sites future. I trust you will make the right descision. Thanks!
Poll that sucker....DM had a MB and Chatterbox and both flourished...A Chatterbox/Shoutbox gives users more of a sense of community when they can see and chat with others who are here at the same time.
No Shoutbox! Its been done well by other sites before. But now everyone has them. Come up with something new and make Custo the trendsetter not a follower!

I think Custo wants to set the trend of not having a 'chatterbox' or whatever. And that's fine by me. deviantART.com has a shoutbox which does very well for site interactivity and a forum that is quite popular throughout the community; I don't know where the deduction came from that shoutboxes are burdensome to message boards. Jeez, get a grip ;)
BTW, it's so great to see the old custo back. i came onto the scene just months before custo went down. i still have a couple of precurser's famous ones (Gravity Well, DaisyS-recall, etc.) in my wallpaper randomizer. ahh the good ol' days...
No shoutbox. One of the nice things about the old Custo was it's simplicity. It never needed 50 things on the main page and a trillion "features". A shout/chatter/msg box is basically a scaled down message board that sits on every page of a site (function = you type, hit post, page refreshes, your text is public). While it works for some sites it makes no sense here. I'm really happy to see Custo pretty much the same as it used to be. Once you slap the "old default" theme on it the thing is damn near unchanged. A wise man once said "if it ain't broke, don't fix it". Well... Custo ain't broke. =)
Seeing as how the site's layout allows for closing of certain panels, one could close the chatterbox if s/he so desires. I say put up one, because I kinda like random thoughts sometimes. But, for those who dont like them, they can choose to close it and perhaps a cookie would keep it closed. Now doesn't that sound nice?
haze, no it wasn't a chatter box. it was a magic8 ball, and the only reason it was there was becuase there was no msgboard at the time. I say vote NO on proposition shoutbox! =)
no it was a chatterbox... anyone could type anything they wanted and it kept a flowing list of what the last 50 or so people said. The magic 8-ball was just an addition to the chatter box that spouted an answer whenever a "?" mark appeared in something someone typed.
custo was the first site i remember ever seeing have a chatter/shout/whatever the fuck you feel like calling it box way back in 97 i believe. it was custo that was the original trendsetter.

on a side note: this mb has been unchanged in 2-3 years and is a hard to read, utter piece of old shit. if you guys don't want a shoutbox fine. but at least petition for a more readable mb.
i think the shoutbox would take away from the activity that goes on in this forum here at custo. believe me, this used to be (and probably will be again) one of the busiest forums in the skinning community if only a shoutbox didnt take that away.
a shoutbox is not a messageboard and a messageboard is not a shoutbox... I hear everyone saying "it will take away from the messageboard," yet no one has had the insight to explain how. I'd really like to know.
It would not take anything away from the forum. The forum allows for multithreaded discussions about any specific topic. The chatterbox would allow people to chat as they are browsing through the site. I don’t think it would take away any activity to the forum. If anything it may add to the overall community interaction at customize.
For all you people who say, “customize never had one before and doesn’t need one now”. You are just fooling yourselves. Things change… customize is now today not what it was yesterday and will not be what it is today, tomorrow.
erm, well personally, i never quite got the point of a shout box (not that i don't understand them) my only concern is cluttering things up and such. i dunno. i don't care much either way whether we have one. i'll talk to the guys about it.
