if u want to launch a program, u will link it this way: run:c:what/ever/your/root/is.exe and you will need the runProtocolHandler program, fin it in http://www.virtualplastic.net

That how i do it, but there are other ways

Why would anyone use Active Desktop? It only slows your computer down.

I guess as a student computer science, it's a character flaw to get the best out of your computer. OK, I only have a 450 Mhz, but with 512 MB RAM, a GeForce 2 64MB and 120 Gb harddisk space I can't complain.

Anyway... That also why I use winamp 2. Next to the fact that is easily skinnable, it also uses almost no resources on the contrary to winamp 3 or sonique 2.

Oh yeah, and about sonique... I meant sonique 1.96. Though sonique 2 is only in the alpha stage, it looks promising. Let's hope it's easier to skin than winamp 3, and the future for sonique lies open.

lol i know exactly what you mean, always trying to get the most speed and best performance. me too.
Sadly, winamp3 is a memory hog. I'm not using it either.

thats weird, i have a 400MHz processor and winamp 3 hasn't slowed my computer with any noticable difference. Maybe because i use a different shell than explorer?

I dunno what's going on with Nullsoft, but since they have been taken over by AOL, they kinda suck. Too bad, cuz there's nothing better to use for music than winamp 2.

active desktop may slow down the computer, buy is easier to launch apps from there, and I save space in my taskbar.

winamp3 just isnt stable, and i dont run explorer as my shell either, but it is a memhog.

also, we have strayed from the topic, and it is a question i would also like answered, how can i run links to programs and such on my active desktop?
