I dont mean to rant on about ppl suggesting stuff, cuz I have suggesting things as well and I think the suggestions are great, but one thing I dont like is how some ppl are going nuts trying to turn this place in DevArt. I mean next thing you know ppl will be requesting that the site colors to be turned to Olive Green and Army Green. Chill out. You have DevArt too, its not like you have to choose between the two. Just suggest things that you think should DEFINATLY be here.

BlazerRW, uhm.. and that would be WHAT exactly? Why do people think writing a blanket statement make them look intelligent, when in actuallity it doesn't convey or express anything. BlazerRW, it might have been wise of you to EXPLAIN what deskmod "WAS" and what deviantART and Customize.org "ARE" - Maybe then you would come to the realization that neither are comparable as they all offer their own yet unique environments.
seems like a silly thing to say, i mean, Deskmod was the heir to the customize era pretty much. While it most certainly grew into something that custo never was, you have to look at whats happened. Customize.org was a bunch of kids who liked digital art. Custo died as Deskmod hit the scene and as Deskmod grew the community got older as well. You're witnessing the coming of age of our community. If you think that Custo's going to be exactly what it used to be, your dead wrong, the people here may be the same nicks you saw 2 years ago, but we're all different people now. Wait and see what will happen. Don't forcast on blind assumptions my friend.
Besides all that, deviantART has sort of "spoiled" it's membership with tons of features- it's only natural for people to start 'expecting' them everywhere.

Look, they brought custo back to it's former glory. In that state the only skins site that could compare is Skinz. See you fools like deskmod and devart cuz they opened when you came into the scene but the scene was around way before them. So what if you're cool over there but nobody knows who the fuck you are here. This site is a god risen from the grave. Nuff said!
the skinning sites are only as great as the people make them.I can tell now that this one isn't going to be anything because of people like you guys.If an opionion starts an argument,then this site wont go very far.10c, If you were around 5 or however many years ago when those sites where first brought up and still around now and think any website is a god then you don't have much of a life.Its just a site and just an opinion.Boards are made to start conversations,not arguments.
I wouldnt go that far. I agree with l0c says. A bunch af people are saying this site sucks based on the fact that no one knows who the fuck they are, but with devart ppl know there name, so they think its better. Both are great sites, but this is old skool, an original, a home. This was the first (i think) site based on skinning. It was always be the best in my mind. The only reason I state that ppl shouldnt be turning this into devart is because DevArt is filled with a BUNCH of assholes over there, and I dont want to see the same. Hopefully that doesnt happen, or I will be wandering around homeless again.
No this isn't devart or deskmod. Thank god! I like devart alot but it's not home. I've been searching for a site since skinz.org went down to hang my hat. I had great hopes for this site and I think it will exceed even those. I came into the scence around the time of custo's death a couple of years ago so I never got a chance to get to know the people here. Hope to change that and I'm looking forward to seeing some of the old faces from skinz and devart here too.
ahh I remember winamp use to have a links section in the about part, they had a link to customize which is how I found this great community. I wasn't there when it was first born but i was there when it died. I was also apart of Skinz, DeskMod and i'm apart of Devart. I've enjoyed being apart of all these great community's and will continue to enjoy all of them. Each one is unique in there own way and each one is a different experience. I like it that way.
blazer, no skins site will ever become what another skins site was/is because each has it's own unique skins, history, community, rules, etc. it's not an opinion, it's fact.
attila wasn't arguing with you - there's nothing to argue with. i believe he was simply trying to figure out what relevance your statement had to the topic.
Most of the ideas suggested on this message board are taken into consideration and or used to spawn various other ideas. I think it is very good how people are constantly making suggestions because that allows the staff to more accurately please the community in a whole. As I’ve said before; “Customize is today not what it was yesterday and will not be what it is today, tomorrow.”
morph: i hate to break it to you buddy, but when/if customize.org becomes as popular in terms of traffic and visibility as deviantART is then you can rest assured that customize.org will obtain its fair share of assholes. the only reason that you do not see [m]any [assholes] here now is because, though the _name_ is old, the site is new.
the same thing happened on deskmod; the same thing happened on deviantART; the same thing will happen here ...

Let's hope it will take a long time before that happens. Anyway, these which site is best arguments were old tow years ago. Don't make this über fresh site skin look old by starting them again.
Why don't we just all accept the fact that there will be assholes in the community (or any community) and move along? School, work, online communities, ect will all have their share of bad apples. Just ignore the morons and move on, dont let them ruin a good thing.
I accept the fact that assholes will be everywhere. I just dont see to many of them to begin with. And even though I say I see and abundant amount of them at DevArt, that does not mean that I will notice them. I mean I was on skinz.org and deskmod.com with everyone else. THe assholes might have been there, but I just didnt see them. At DevArt they make it a point to be seen and heard. Anyways this is straying from the topic. I was just tired of seeing ppl post "We need a shoutbox, indy sections, stock photo." To me it just seems as if ppl were looking for a DevArt replica. I mean it would be nice if it had all the shit, but then again, we would have the brilliant amount of ppl show their faces screaming how it was a rip of devart. So I was trying to state "Dont make this place exactly like DevArt, cuz we do have both sites."

Worrying about Custo becoming a DeviantArt clone is a hell of a lot more productive than "Deskmod was better than custo and dA put together" If you don't understand that, then take some time off, and come back when you've grown up a little
Custo will always have a significant position in this world of skinning...as it was where it all really started...;) Now....when Lsnet gets going again.......;)
The funny thing about the statment is, if you wanna say that these sites will never be what deskmod was, then you can easily say deskmod would never have been what skinz.org was, in which you can say that skinz.org will never be what customize.org was (before it died) therefore making your argument pointlees, cuz if deskmod wasnt better than skins, which wasnt better than custo, you go right back to square 1. So ther is no point in arguing that. No site is ever better than the one that came before it.
Uhm.. wow, I think most of you continuing this discussion are missing the biggest point of all - These are all individual sites - how dare you disrespect that by trying to make one "better" or "worse" than another. No two sites, just like no two people have the same personality and character traits. Not understanding that fundamental fact lends me to believe that many of you will not go far in life. Of course, if what I said above does not apply to you, don't think of it as an attack... however, if you are offended, then the proverbial "shoe" fits.
Errr....just a thought but isn't more better?? Way back in the day,(Hell my 486DX100 was top-o-the line at that point) there were only a few sites with any skinning content, then a few became dedicated to bringing together all our work & ideas,and, as in anything a couple outshone the others for whatever reason and became the "standard"(I suppose) for what many expect a skinning site to be...however ridiculous it may seem. The bottom line for me is that I can appreciate diversity and embrace it for all it offers.
Hell I totally agree with Attila, but one thing is, down to the fact of it all, the sites are not "better" than the other, but to each person there is a better site, one they frequent more. Like me for instance. I frequent this more, but im sure once LS.net is back up that will be my headquarters. Except for anything other than LS, I have this site.
