What I did was copy the shell32.dll into a diff directory for backup, then killed explorer, copied the new version of the .dll, and replace it for the old one first in the dllcache, then in the system32 folder, after that I didn't try to replace the files with the windows xp pro cd, and started explorer backup. it's usually not apparent until you restart(but that may just be on my machine.
