As of this point, any threads taking position one way or another on the war in Iraq will be locked immediately and quite likely just deleted. Before you get up in arms about this, please consider that the purpose of this site remains the same through wartime or peacetime. Quite frankly, the intense flamewars that are breaking out over this issue are becoming detrimental to our sense of community here.
There are plenty of forums / outlets both online and offline which provide you a place to share your thoughts and opinions on the war efforts. As that is not the focus of our community, and as many have shown they cannot "play by the rules" we laid down for these threads, we have no choice but to remove them with the greatest haste possible.
On a quick personal note. Those of us on the staff do have our opinions on the war. No matter what our individual opinions are, we can all agree that the time for debate is over; and the time to support the troops and the people of Iraq in their struggle for freedom has come. I'd like to wish all coalition troops, as well as the Iraqi people our best and we hope for their safety during this war against evil.
I'd also like to thank the community here for understanding our position on this matter and why we feel that the arguments have just gotten out of hand. Please everyone, I urge you to remember why you're here.
I understand that this isn't the place to debate the war...but you can't blame people that come together with one common interest (in this case, customization) to naturally want to discuss other common interests (in this case, the war). But like I said, it’s understandable that you'd want to stop arguments and such. I do have to respectfully disagree with something you said, the time for debate is in absolutely no way over, nor will it ever be. Once we become benign to what our government, the people working for and representing us to the world, is doing in our name is the day democracy dies. Don't stop debating and getting your opinion heard, just take it someplace else (hopefully someplace wear more can hear it). And by all means, show our troops the support they deserve. They are only doing their job and are not to blame for this situation.
By ending debate, I only meant to say that it is time for everyone to support the troops and the Iraqi people regardless of whether or not they agree with the military action.
Don't worry, syko, pretty soon your government will have the ability to execute all those pesky troublemakers so all that dangerous free-thinking doesn't interfere with the masterplan. I mean really, can you imagine an america where personal freedom and expression are allowed free reign?! That's crazy talk. This is the 21st century, OK people? Fall into line or else. And to think, all this time, the USSR, China, and Nazi Germany were right. Democracy is so stupid; what were we thinking?
