If you happen to be reading this, I have a suggestion for you. There's a pretty good chance that the sun is shining where you live. It's probably pretty warm too. Take an hour of your day and do something different. Turn off the TV and the radio news, get in your car (or walk, if I'm right and it's perfectly nice), and get away from the naysayers who want you to believe we're living in dark times.
Go for a drive. Put the windows down and turn up your radio. And make sure you put the dial on a music station. It can be the Beach Boys, the B52's, or hell, even Black Sabbath. Anything that's not talk radio.
If you have a signifigant other, go have a nice dinner somewhere. If you don't, ask somebody out and go catch a movie. Anything but Tears of the Sun.
Swing by the mall and get a new CD. With all of the promotions and new bands out right now, it shouldn't be hard to find something you like for $10 or less. Failing that, pick up a new game for your old Sega Genesis or NES. That game you always wanted as a kid is probably only $5.95 used now. You may even luck out and get the box and instructions.
If you have to be on the computer today, make a new wallpaper, or a skin. Whichever you usually do, give the opposite a shot. It can be fun. If you need inspiration, go sit in your backyard for a while. And if you don't have one, drive to the suburbs and use someone else's.
Don't let CNN, Fox News Network, MSNBC, or even Pravda.ru ruin a perfectly nice afternoon.
Take one hour our of your day and have some fun for a change. You'll feel better.

Thanks Status. That’s exactly what I needed to hear. I've spent the last two days with CNN on constantly...at work, at home, even at night while I sleep. This is my spring break for god's sake…I need to get out. I'm going to burn a copy of Audioslave’s new album and go for a drive. Peace.
I like your "wordplay" here . . . it's very upbeat and convincing. I'm actually working on a university report on a subject that I really enjoy (Roman Empire), and I plan to sink my teeth into it tonight. I'll probably hit the gym a bit later on, too.
Right now I'm busy checking out some Winamp3 skins. MMD3 is truly awesome, and I recommend it to everyone. It comes in 70 colour themes, so there's something there for all.
I recommend "The Music." Their CD just came out a few weeks ago and I picked it up for like $8. They have a definite Led Zeppelin sound to them, but with a modern flair. Highly recommended if you're into that sort of thing. Oh yeah, the TV is going off right now...didn't realize how much I've had it on until I read the post.
good idea. i'm sitting on the computer right now writting this and listening to music and watching cnn. maybe i should go out. but wait i'm to tired from school... help me
What a great inspiration. A lot like my boyfriend. I would love to have dinner with my significant other, but can't because he's off at college. It isn't warm here either. It is like 52 degrees in Indiana. I feel like I can't get away from the news either. I want to keep updated on it, but sometimes I just can't stop watching it. Can't really do much right now, but am awaiting the warmer weather.:)
That's a great idea, but I can't stop thinking about my friend in Kuwait and her family.
But I do have to finish a website, needs to be ready this sunday and I haven't even started 0_o...
So, Doing 3 things at the same time: worried about my friends while listen the news, working on the website ann listening Lennon to not forghet the we, humans aren't this bad all the time
great post status.. i try to do this everyday.. but there are, unfortunatly, other things that loom over me... and have found, sadly, that customize is one of the greatest relief's of my day..
i guess its a good thing that i work essentialy by myself and dont watch tv...

ah yes, let's pretend all the bad stuff isn't happening, everyone close your eyes and enter that comfortable vegetative state where you don't have to think anymore, no need to fight the system, just let them take care of everything, no good can come from critical thinking, hopefully there will be a new reality TV show debut in a couple of weeks to kill even more of my fat bloated sleepwalking american brain cells, 'cause ignorance is fucking bliss
Dude, he was simply saying: GO OUTSIDE FOR A CHANGE, get some fresh air, smell the roses, remember that there still are some good things on this Earth. Jeez, if anyone needs to take that advice.....
The sun is shining. I am listening to ivy (oooh get it!!) and it´s 8 o´clock in the morning.
If you take a break. Think about what all the medias make out of us. They´re lying. They´re showing things everybody wants to see. But is it really what we want to see? Does it frigthen you when you see anther plane crashing? Another bomb exploding down there... somewhere over the big sea? Another little girl is diing because there´s no more rice? I am living now 1 year without TV and news broadcasting from radiostations. My only source is the newspaper and some serious websites.
I know. It´s hard. But, maybe it is possible. To forget everything for one day. Try to live without TV, without PC´s. Just live! Take your girl/ boy to the place you ever wanted to be. AND TAKE A BREAK! I did so yesterday.... and i just can say... it´s so nice to live.´
ive been walking too and from college for the past couple days, helps clear your head, work out some thoughts, and get a lot of inspiration thanks to the beautiful Arizona weather. I completely agree status, everyone should do this.
i miss arizona.. some big sky out there.. to me that was the best.. i didnt realy have to go for a walk.. i could just sit outside or in a pool.. and look at the endless sky..
