How hot is too hot?

I got a new computer a few weeks ago and just finished running all the benchmarks, etc. and was wondering how hot is too hot for the processor?
After playing a game with pretty intense graphics (GTA3) the CPU area is at around 50` C. Idle it's hovering around 35` C. Is this acceptable? The cpu is a P4 2.4 ghz. Also, the case temperature, as reported by the motherboard is around 30`C. I've read reviews, etc on the net and people claimed they had lower temperatures. What do you guys think? Add an extra fan? Currently there are no fans other than the cpu fan and the power supply.

50 is pretty hot. hottest my cpu ever got was 42.
try adding 2 fans for best results. one that blows in and one that blows out. it creates a circulation of air inside your case which is always good. also keep in mind that hot air rises so its wise to put the fan blowing out somewhere in the upper region of your case.

mbm5 will do it, provided you have a motherboard that is supported (mines not).
But seing that your pc is new, it should be.
