Even though Contenu explained why he didn't like the wall and he wasn't malicious about it, he gets flaimed, called names, etc. etc, some of this name calling by a MOD! Seeing that just made me sick. I was one of the first people to see that sub and even though I liked it, I think it's ridiculous the way someone is treated simply for stating their opinion. It's one thing when someone is harsh or obviously trying to start trouble, but that obviously isn't the case here. Yes, the majority feels that its a quality piece, but that really doesn't warrant all the name-calling and childish behavior displayed in the comments.
And Max, its really funny to me that you're the mod in question here, when just a few weeks ago you selected a rather weak wall for the featured segment and consequently caught heat for it. Your response then, accusing people of being "jealous" that their work didn't get featured...more childish behavior from someone representing the site, good job. You should be thankful that Contenu took his subs down because you would be eating your words otherwise.

Well come on, he rated it a 20. That's harsh. Maybe it didnt deserve a 100 either but people shouldnt be giving ratings to even out the overall rating, they should give them because that's what they feel it deserves. Giving that piece a 20 is just a dick thing to do.

The admins cant bend to everyones whim and sometimes they do things they shouldnt, and the minute they do everyone flips shit over it. We sit here and flame it up and afterwards noone says a thing about it, but the minute an admin descides to speak his mind you all flip? Its retarded, plain and simple.

i'm not hating on max. cuz max and contenu prolly already had a fued going , i just don't agree with everyone else that called contenu stupid. because it's his opinion and if you wants to rate it 1 he will. and i also agree with gear about the evening out thing.
if its one user calling another stupid, ok thats one thing, but I think the admin's should exhibit better behavior than calling someone an idiot just because they have different tastes. It was totally unprovoked, bottom line hash.
i have never spoken to max before. i said what i thought about the piece, yea 20 was kinda harsh agreed. but im not sorry for saying what ive said. its funny how all the people talking about others bitching do the most bitching themselves. as you see liq hasnt flamed anyone. in fact i talked to him, and he said 'everyone has their own opinion' and its 'cool' i explained to him why i gave the comment. instead of trying to flame me, and call me stupid names, then scoring his piece a 100. why dont you actually give a good reason of why you think it should get 100. and not some lame ass comment like "A job well done the blur is really really good on this. " if my comment has no merit, does such a comment as that have one either?

Contenu gafe a rating. He explained his rating, and gave reasons for his views. He also did mention that the member's other work was much better. His comments, though short, were in NO WAY offensive or rude. So he gave a 20. Sorry folks, this site is based on RATINGS. They are there, and people will use them. In a way, he had a point. Colours were GORGEOUS, detail was lacking. It still looked good. Contenu's criteria were slightly different from others, but not so much so that it sounds like blatant flaming.
The problem is, once someone swims a bit differently fromt the rest of the crowd (contenu), the crowd, already blinded by the shiny beauty (or their PERCEPTION of beauty), is unable to stomkach an even remotely negative comment. By the way, don;t focus on the rating, focus on the comment. It's too bad that a 20 slipped into the preponderance of 100's, but Contenu is entitled. And believe me, Liqachu's (and partner's) work was good enough and rated high enough to withstand a 20. As long as comments are not rude or offensive, and at least somewhat contructive - which Contenu's was, no matter how you slice it, then the critic is entitled to his/her say. That's just the way it goes, people. You know I'm the first one to speak up when there's rudeness or people talking sh*t, but you have to be tough enough to withstand critics, even some who seem to be wrong, as long as they do not offend personally.
As for Max: I'm the first one to back this guy up. It's not easy being an admin, and he works hard at rating submissions fairly. IMHO, he was a bit harsh on Contenu . . . maybe there is some history between them, I don't know. Look, people aer allowed to have off-days now and then, and Max had his. No need to start flaming on Max (yeah, yeah, he's an admni, so he should set an example, etc., etc.) LOL, I can name a few admins here (and cite specific examples) who on a REGULAR BASIS act like 5-year olds. Max is way above and beyond that group, anyway. It happened, it was a minute thing, totally uncharacteristic of Max. I'm not going to pass judgment here - LOL, I'm in no posiiton to do that anyway ;-) right? ;-)
The moral of all this: don't let your perceptions of beauty, even if shared by 99% of your comrades, silence that 1% who might have a different perception. Sometimes diversity can be a curse, but ultimately, it benefits us all.
first off there is no history between max and i, i recently came back to custo, and this is the first encounter ive had with max.. with that said, i agree with ltd. all i was trying to do was express my views on the piece, im not sorry so many of you disagree. its funny how ealier last week or so you had a poll about 'are you tired of 3d abstract'. so many voted for yes, then a 3d piece wins i say how i feel about it, i am flamed, and such. for saying what many people where thinking. but yet im the bad guy. i can see where if i had said something like 'your work sucks, you suck, i hope you die, down with liq' you would have a vaild reason for the way you have been treating me. but i have said no such things. for diffrent views i am cast as a jealious person, a hater of 'good' art and such. as for my art as max pointed out, i took it down. as i no longer feel custo is a place id like to be at. you are probally thinkin oh boy contenus art prolly sucks major ass soo bad. maybe it does maybe it doesnt, if you want to see my art. feel free to ask me for it, my aim name is return to core. ill glady show you as much as you want. as i have nothing to hide, or be ashamed of... well maybe a few pieces here and there. but who doesnt.
EVERYONE - we're all entitled to our opinions and views here.. I don't think contenu's rating was in jeleously at all. It is in my opinion that contenu is fair in the rating. Not everything is going to please everyone, and not everyone is going follow like a sheep (not saying any of those who rated are).
It seems unfair to knock someone because they don't have and submissions of their own at custo.
There are left and right sides to every piece so stop hitting heads everytime a person disagrees...
I think the whole thing was just a huge misunderstanding that resulted in bad feelings. I'm sure no one meant to cause any permanent damage. There are alot of talented individuals here on custo, and we need to remember that the fact that this all works on a ratings system and that members are free to comment, can occasionally lead to some unintended results.
I'm satisfied with the fact that all parties to this, in retrpospect, probably learned something, and are at least honest with themselves about what occurred (hopefully.)
LOL, shocks :-) Actaully while I was typing that post I remembered that you don't like to read long posts - hey you have a point, brevity is important. But I thought tis time I needed to contribute some kind of meaningful view, rather than the morally-questionable remarks I usually make. ;-) I hope I helped out, even if a little bit.

In NO WAY am I trying to take away users opinions. The only reason I removed the feedback in the submission was because of this. We do NOT need a childish flame war over somebodies opinion.
Yes, the admin's response was inappropriate, but please also understand what we do for our community.
Seriously, some of our users need to realize that we bend over backwards for our community and continue to "take it up the ass" from people.
We do a lot for you guys. And sometimes it is extremely hard to accomidate everyone's ability, personality, etc. And you also have to understand that sometimes it does make us mad when users post their feedback a bit "harsh" (not saying it was though, cause I don't think Contenu's post was at all harsh).
So, you have to understand that sometimes we get stressed out and say things we don't mean.
We fully support your opinion (as long as it is suitable for all ages and the audience (appropriate behavior)).
Flashback, I suggest that next time you have an issue with an administrator, PLEASE contact one of us and let us know. It is only embarrassing on your behalf that you have to post it in the whole community.
I understand it mad you angry, but just take a deep breath, think the things you want to say through, and drop us a line.
And that goes to everyone. The admins are here for you, and we will be happy to explain ANYTHING to you and try to help you the best we can.
