i use windows media player...because not only does it sound the best... if its going to play every other file and if its incorporated into windows xp why mess with anything else?
winamp 2.9, better sound then wmp in my mind.. i think it takes up less mem too... anyways winamp has plugin options can't argue with the nsf player/ogg player options inside of it

winamp 2.9 and even winamp 2.81 is better. Other players just lowers the volume and muddles the sound, even when using similar eq and other settings. They also gets bonus for lower footprints. Remember this is a vote for a player for mp3 and cd audio only.
Winamp. Always. Every other player I've tried takes up too much space. On the screen I mean. k-jofol was nice though, but I didn't quite like the minimodes one those skins. My favourite player used to be NAD, but they stopped developing it just when it started getting good.
winamp 2.81 all the way, doesn't take to much space on the screen and not to much memory, didn't changed to 2.9 becuase.... I don't know. Did improve anything?? I know you can play videos, but i don't care about that, I only use winamp for music.
I have to admit once Ii got the plugin that allowed me to rip cds to mp3s I really started using WiMP a lot.I really like the way it will display an album cover and atrist info, release dates, etc. Plus it pulls the info from All Music Guide, my favorite music site.
But for listening, watching and customizing NOTHING beats Winamp 2.9. It's always effortless to match it to whatever vs you may be running and the range of viz for is insane.

Winamp 2.9 is pretty much fantastic! Video support as well, there is not much need for anything else other than a DivX codec and you are ready to rock. If I ever use Media Player I use v.6 It came with Windows 2000 and just is so good and simple! When I figure out how to Reshack it I will be happy :)
Yep, same here, WA 2.9 and WMP v.6 for video. I just don't get on with WMP 7+ at all. And if you find out how to reshack it tell me! (the .exe is nothing but a shell for some .dll somewhere)
Winamp 5 for some of its kick ass skins out there like Spirit, Aerotune and Wahoo-FER. Plus you can use classic skins whilst still being able to enjoy the new features of 5. So its really kind of a win win situation.
