Damn I never knew it was that bad. My bro said he drank a large cup of vodka??? What a dumbass...I just want to beat him but he's already sick. merkurixx, that sounds pretty painful....I never knew getting drunk felt so bad.
once you've 'barfed', you feel so much better. It's a bit like wanted to take a shit..but you have to wait for 30 mins cos your stuck in traffic in your car. Once it's out, you breathe a sigh of relief.
Drinking lowers your inhibitions and makes you more social, so long as you're not hammered. Even if you get hammered you do stupid things you might be embarassed about later but it makes you more confident in the long run because you're less afraid to do embarassing things in the future. Also, like many drugs, it's just entertaining to have a change of mentality. Not that I'm saying you should try other drugs, just they're some reasons why people do. I'm going out drinking tonight, to get to know people from my new workplace, and relax after a mad 3 days of work. (yeah it's only 3 but they were nuts)
don't bother to start drinking until you're in your upper teens :. that way you'll be able to handle it better....ie, one drink won't do you in. and, like people have said, people drink and get drunk for various reasons. sometimes you don't remember....but sometimes you do, and i can testify to that....my best advice is, get drunk once, at some point in your life, and then decide if it's something that you really want to do. plus, then, you'll really know what it's like.
@Fenris: I've been drinking (occasionally) since I was about 12, I would say the opposite. I've seen so many teenagers start drinking at 15-16 and just get completely wasted all the time because they jumped in at the deep end. Also from what I've heard the French don't have the same problems with their kids getting drunk and starting trouble as we do because they let their kids drink with meals and stuff from very early on. But yeah, get really drunk once, then don't drink again for a while and see what you think.
It also depends what you drink on how you feel, whisky makes me happy and bouncy and I can drink tons of it without feeling sick (like 1/2 a l, beer makes me relaxed but tired if I'm at all worn out, vodka makes me feel warm and fuzzy but a bit confused, cider makes me more confused and irritable if I drink a lot, wine makes me fuzzy-headed and relaxed.
Cultures that place restrictions on the consumption of alcohol always have problems. In France having a glass of wine at the dinner table is standard practice and kids are welcome in bars and restaurants. As a result French kids have a very relaxed attitude towards alcohol and don't feel the need to get hammered for the sake of it. In the UK you're not supposed to drink until you're 18 - combine that with licencing laws dating back to the war that sees all pubs close at 11pm and clubs at 2am and you have a sure-fire recipe for binge drinking. Then in the states you're not supposed to drink till you're 21 which is plainly stupid and, having spent a year at an American college, I can confirm that American kids go off the rails in just the same way.
Ugh - booze. It feels terrible. Absolutely terrible. Like having a horrible flu. Retching over the toilet. You stomach heaving. Drooling like a nut and swearing things like "Oh God, just make it go away and I'll never drink again!".
Also - for the person who said that smoking weed makes it better - I dunno about that. Weed + Booze makes me really sick, especially if I smoke after being drunk And if I smoke before I start drinking, then I just pass out. Woo, fun. =)
No comment on this one,or else i'll type up about 5 freakin pages. The question is why would you put that kind of stress on your body just to have a little bit of fun? I'm not talking brain stress,i'm talking immune stress. I also feel very strangly against drugs, because i've somewhat come to a conclusion that my brother is a druggie. This is just my opnion but there are too many people out there getting killed by drunk drivers who think that they are invincible to everything on this earth. There are also people out there that do this crap, just because they think it's cool, and everyone else does it. The only reason teens think alcohol is so cool, and drugs are so cool, and they want them,is because they are not able to get them yet. Once they turn 18 and then 21 they'll see what it's like then. They'll be able to get it almost anyday they want, and once they know it's always available they will not even care for it much anymore. I really do think what France did was one of the best ideas, because look at their drinking problems with teens over there, and then look at this bliss over hear in the US. It's AWFUL! Kids getting their cars wrapped around telephone poles and killing themselves driving home,or going to a friends house. Drugs are worse in my opinion. I still have a strong feeling against alcohol. That is just my opinion,so please don't let this offend anyone.
Oooh ooh, thread linkage oppertunity... also bad-influence oppertunity (sorry but it's true). There must be stress in drinking because that is one of reasons I, and a few of my friends started smoking (occasionally). After a few drinks and some time, a cig gives a "relief" effect, and if it relieves something then there must have been some stress in the first place, although I don't feel very stressed... Right now I am kinda tipsy because I had to drink 3 pints of cocktail as fast as I could to get home before 12, when the (expensive) night buses start. I'm happy, I've been laughing loads at my sister on the way home, but I do feel a foggyness hanging over me, as if I'm not all here, which in a weird way is one reason why I drink, I don't like to always be all here.
As for the drink-driving thing, the only time I've done anything near that is the morning after a party when I had to get to work and had to get the car back after. I believe I could safely drive quite a bit over the limit, but I'm not willing to test it, it's not worth even my licence, never mind a life.
And finally the age thing, reaching the age where you can legally drink makes you feel superior for about a week, then it wears off. Instead of the thrill of getting served underage it becomes like buying a newspaper or something. But that doesn't mean it's not entertaining.
Sorry if this is a weird post, I'll use the "oh I was drunk" excuse if it is :P but it's written direct, so at least it's honest, and that's what I feel someone asking about things like alcohol and drugs who hasn't tried them deserves, honesty.

woah this got allotta responses. I'm 14 and ive been drunk 8 times. Never too drunk, just enough to feel really woozy. Some of my buddys have passed out, and this one time i got blown by a drunk chick. There was no difference except that she giggled alot.
maukepe...that is so sad...you're only 14? i'm all for lowering the drinking age (as well as some other reforms that would make that possible) but being drunk 8 times and only being 14? that's just wrong.
*laughs at colossus72's comment* lol. That was funny. Nobody cares if you got a blowjob at a party and you've been drunk 8 times. Nobody likes a showoff. By the way,why so young?? 14,omg,thats like the 7th or 8th grade of middle school. They're getting younger and younger. I'm a sophmore in high school, and peeps in my grade are just now getting out to parties. Does'nt mean they're going out and having massive sex parties or anything, but still,omg,14??
