Well, lets keep this legal, so first, you can purcase *that means buying* off ebay, or other such online stores, make sure you check seller ratings ect ect first, secondly, you can go to any video store, that isnt oh so mainstream, most of the littler one store chains tend to carry some weird stuff, and most tend to carry some sort of anime, also, you can go to new/used video game stores, some tend to carry movies, they will have them as well, and yea, best of luck, happy shopping, ebay would be the easiest, you can also check the classified section of the newspaper if you live in a bigger city, they have them in there once every 2 weeks in Toronto
i dont get it..why do you people like anime? its rediculously stupid OOOOH SAMAGUCHI-SAN-KATANI-KINS JUST CHOPPED LO-POW SAN INTO 283767367632 PEICES WITH ONE SWIPE USING A MAGICAL SWORD/AXE KATANA USING THE POWER OF JO-LOW SAN THE KOREAN GOD OF SOCKS AND DIAMUTSI SAN THE GOOK...woops stupid racist me..
i used to have the same opinion about anime as corrodiate...and then i actually watched some anime. its not bad if you actually sit down and watch it. but then again, everyone has their own opinion, and if you dont like it, too bad, your loss.
i get most of my anime from ebay. just keep in mind that most anime sold through ebay is hong kong bootlegged, may be of lesser quality than legitimate anime sold in stores, and may have horrible subtitles.
if i cant find what i'm looking for on ebay, or if i cant get it from a good seller, then i dl it.
50cent made a really good point about anime earlier. the anime you see on american tv is a pitifully horrible sampling of what anime has to offer. no matter what kind of person you are, there will be anime for you out there.
anime is just as widespread in terms of flavor, genre, and style as american cinema.
p.s. i hope corrodiate chokes on ramen and dies. _ :pd: lick tongues
I agree with that the anime on TV is Horrible, the only good anime I have ever seen on TV was NGE, and they had dubed versions so it sucked, but yea, there is all sorts of anime, dont get stuck thinking its just pokemon and that other shit, thats poor examples of what they have to offer
I buy DVDs and VCDs. eBay and P2P aren't worth fooling with, because you have NO idea what you're getting until you've got it.
As for people bashing anime, go watch any part of The Animatrix, Princess Mononoke, Record of Lodoss War, or even Ghost in the Shell, then tell me again that it sucks. Check out Serial Experiments Lain, Cowboy Bebop, or Vampire Hunter D, then tell me it sucks.
And if you do tell me it sucks, it says more about you than the medium.
: I paid $14 for a T-shirt and all I got was this stupid T-shirt :
i buy DVD... image quality, extras, sound, dub/sub options... and so on... i like it better than downloads.
suggestions all preferably subbed (as it has been over and over):
NGE (series+movie) Cowboy Bebop (series +movie) Outlaw Star Princess Mononoke Spirited Away Akira Blood: The Last Vampire (not the manga >.EXCEL SAGA ('tis the best) Digi Karat Tenchi (original Muyo series only) Inu-Yasha (preferably fan sub, series+movies) Puni Puni Poemi (um... on the verge of hentai) Dragonball (uncut, fansubs) DNA^2 Chobits
um.. there are a whole lot more i have (some VHS fansubs, but all whcih are availuable on region 1 DVD i have)
anime is great... that is all i have to say...
it gives limitless capabilities to animation along with very very original material. (Although some anime tend to follow the path of other anime... wich doesn't always work)...
my advice: buy fansubs off line...
filiafansubs.com has many good ones. The subtitles are far more accurate... you get original voices, and they're cheaper than official DVD's and many VHS. But if you are like me and have a deep hatred for VHS, than go ahead and get DVD, you can still watch it subbed from there... but when subbed by major American movie peoples (i.e. Disney (spirited away), Paramount (Cowboy Bebop), Mirmax (Princess Mononoke), etc...)
I like fansubs. Anime IS stupid. And to all of you out there that disagree. I hate you. That is one of the reasons why I like it. Naruto. All of Miyazaki's. Furi Kuri [that show is just mocking everything out there]. Trigun. Serial Experiment Lain. EVA. This forum very well could go on and on forever with our moronic little minds constantly thinking up come backs. But it probably won'. Since ppl stopped posting about 4 months ago ^_^
i just like anime.and thats all u need to know.if u dont like it.too bad.just too bad.american 'animation' is stupid and goofy but with anime, u can have stuff like the anime Noir, which involves Guns, blood, drugs, all the stuff a growing boy needs in Japan and America! ^_^
I generally buy my anime from ebay or discountanimedvd.com. Then there are the fan sub where i download from mIRC. There's nothign wrong with downloadin' these, as long as there not license yet ^_^
Me and my friends have a wide collection of anime. If you need any suggest just msg me. I've seen just about all the popular anime out so far. Still collecting, but i don't plan to ever stop =D _______________________ *Power By FAFSA*
Yeah, I got ebay usually, but we got a nice little place called Suncoast here at our mall, I don't know if that chain is very large, but they are an awesone anime/japanese import game merchant. Circuit City also carries some decent animes if you are desperate, I've picked up Noir there myself. I sometimes go p2p, but usually only to check out a series.. I will buy it if I like it enough.
most of the animation i own is original japanese... i have around 300 laserdiscs and a hell of a lot of vhs cassettes. i got a lot of it in japan- usually the really hard or obscure stuff to find.
my vhs collection mostly consists of animation recorded off of japanese television. tv shows and some movies and the like.
i own maybe about 20 or so american release animation dvd's, mostly movies because you get surround sound and such.
well, i guess that didn't help huh? if you're not as much as a fan as i am, just go to best buy, they have a pretty good selection and the prices are fair. if you're not sure about what it is before you buy it, ask around or dl and episode or two.
