Everyone using Windows, regardless of version, has a folder named Program Files. Mine has somewhow become specified as a Pictures folder, and Windows won't let me change it through View > Customize This Folder. Anyone know how to fix this? I'm running XP Pro with SP1, thanks all.

Get TweakUI and there's a section for changing system folders under "My Computer... Special Folders" in it.

Try clicking the Views button and choosing the one you want, then close and re-open Explorer.

If that doesn't work make sure "Remember each folders view settings" is checked under the Tools, Folder Options, Views menu.

If it still doesn't work, make a folder look how you like, go back to that menu again and press the "Apply to All Folders" button. But this will reset all folders to that view.

on the top, under "file, edit, view, favorites, etc" there should be some icons like back, forward, etc. there should be a window looking icon. click on that, and choose icons

nevermind guys, i fixed the problem myself. in case it happens to anyone else, here's how i fixed it: Tools > Folder Options > View > Reset All Folders. It resets all the settings on all the folders on the drive, I guess, so be careful with using it. It seems to have corrected the problem for now. Thanks to everyone who responded.
