Anyone know how to split a .avi video file into two parts to put it on two cds so that it will fit. I just got a DVD quality version of LOTR The Two Towers and i wanna put it on a cd since its 1,446,679 KB's!! Tell me how PLEEAAAASSEEE.
there is something called file chopper. it is OK but it doesn't make them 2 seperate movies, just cuts them, then you have to manually put them back together to get it to work. dunno if that helps.

Go to DivX sites, you'll find your answers there. Meanwhile if you really have to post something like this don't go "I just got LOTR..." say "I have an avi file", then at least it could be a home-made film... (mind you, if you'd made it you'd know how to split it.)
: Nothing's better than takin a dump and checkin out some uber hardware...well...hacking into microsoft while dropping off the Cosby's might be better :
adobe premiere, use the razor, chop it where you want, take 2nd part and copy to a new file and save.
and yeah, a simple "i have a large avi file" would've done. but then again, by not telling us the name, we might think it's an embarassing porn title too :)

Since everyone's telling you anyway, another way is to use a file splitter like ceasar1996 said, but then use the DivFix program (small app about 100k available from places like divx-digest) on it to re-index the movie and make both halves playable.
