personally, i don't really like either of them. msn has messed up my computer several times over the years, and aim is annoying. however, aim is a neccessary evil in order to communicate with some of my friends...
i hope i dont sound like an idiot or anything, but... can msn users still access the aim network? i remember hearing about this on the news a couple of years ago, but it died down and that was the last i heard of it.
I use MSN 6.0 all the time, I tried AIM once but didn't get on with it all that well, and I just naturally hate all things AOL, which doesn't help it.
If anyone knows how to change the default browser on MSN 6 (from clicking conversation links) it would really help cos it irritates me but my mate won't even think of using it because of that problem.
bla bla bla! trillian and miranda outdo them all. trill for the folks who like a big pretty ui, miranda for the folks who like a sleek, minimal ui.
trill is obvious choice for someone who just wants to be able to chat across many mediums with little hassle. miranda will take more coaxing and tweaking, but the payoff is still great, not to mention that miranda can look stunning if tweaked well.
personally i use trill, it serves me well and works like i tneed it to. my only prob is that the skins are all pretty over-the-top. _ saiyu sen jiko yo
trillian = shitty skins, awesome options miranda = TOC protocal for aim which means no direct im's msn = another bloated microsoft product aim = hacked, its not that bad and ive been using it the last month or so
I've been using AIM now since, oh jesus, 1.04, and always had friends on it, that's how I primarily keep in touch. Now that AOL has splattered it with ads and monotonous crap, just hack it all away and you got yourself a pretty neat IM client. Im on Trillian now, havnt used it in a while, and I used Miranda for quite some time. All 3 are excellent programs. The one I cant stand, is MSN. I just.......hate it.
: Nothing's better than takin a dump and checkin out some uber hardware...well...hacking into microsoft while dropping off the Cosby's might be better :
you mean html messenger ? or the normal one ? either way, whats the point of poping it up.. your all aim freaks around here, plus i'm to lazy to customize it.
Everyone I know uses AIM so it just makes sense. I prolly have one friend on Yahoo, but other than that, they're all AOL peeps. And now that the abilities to customize AIM are pretty extensive, I'm very happy with using AIM.

Miranda. I've never used MSN or AOL, but when even ICQ got bloated, I started using Miranda. I use it for both ICQ and MSN, but it also supports AOL, Yahoo, Jabber and a bunch of other protocols I've never even heard of before.
I used the MSN 6 leaked beta and reshacked all the .png/.bmp/XML UI files to suit my desk. Then they wen't and released the full preview and the leaked version wouldn't work. Since then i've just been using normal MSN 6.0 because I'm too lazy to hack it all again, but maybe I'll get around to it sometime.

msn 6 can die. its got bugs. like easy to cause buffer overflows, msn 4.* owns you. aim, bah, if you want to use aim, get trillian, personally i use msn4.9.0079 with the fire skin.
