OK this here i post because it gets really annoying... Can somebody tell me whats going on lately ? Have some of the members here flipped when commenting other works with words like "it sucks" "Its crap" and other phrases I'm not going to list here as it would take far too long. I mean who are those people to talk about the works of others like this. I think the reason of commenting was to give the artist hints about how to impove his skills and not to shred him. If I'm wrong then my hopes of having a "community" here are just wasted time.

Prolly because they can't do it better themselves! Or maybe because they just are lame a$$holes... who knows?? I think that if you ain't got nothing good to say - don't comment!!
Well you're right... Freaks like these will always be there. But isn't there a possible way of keeping these guys from commenting on submissions and posting topics on the Messageboards ?
a solution to this problem would be to require users to "earn" the right to comment. To be able to post a comment, one must have at least one submission themselves ranked over 50, or at least 3 submissions ranked over 45... whatever. Ive seen variations of this system used on other sites, and it seems to work pretty well.
KrazyCelt I'm afraid this won't solve the problem. Maybe someone post something, gets able to comment others works and then turns into the same bugger like before
Well... I have no skills at art (or anything else for that matter) but YES! I am a mean reviewer sometimes, why? because:
A. It's fun. C. It's funny. B. I'm an asshole.
but, I try to give credit where it belongs and I dont mean to hurt anyone. one of the reasons I always prefered Customize on other skinZ sites is because I like ppl sence of humor here, that's it! I admit it might hurt the "artists" in one point on another, but hey... take it easy, I dont believe most of us really mean to be mean, we just ARE.
If you do not know how to tell them to improve it, I thikn you should let them know it looks very bad.. (I would want to know) Just do not take the words to heart.. Look at it as them helping you to see what it is.. :) Then you read what they said and improve it.. Then they post good things "Much better" "Way to go man, great changes"...
im not sure anyone will do anything about this yet, the uberadmins are too busy coding the more useful stuff on the site. The suggested system over i do not support as there are many coherent raters out there that do not submit their work or do not make stuff at all. The best way to do this is just to ignore the fuckers that post stupid comments. Comments on the board that are way too lame will be deleted by admins.
If you absolutely want something like this, i would suggest checking out devart, they had something going on about some kind of karma paoint system a while ago...
Geez, this place isn't a play ground, its supposed to be a forum for a discussion of a form of art. These are people's time and effort and creative drive being put up here, and while i agree some of them look like they too 20 seconds and half a million filters, you can't just go around wantonly ripping people's creative efforts with out REASON. If you think something sucks SAY WHY. comments like "this suxs, you sux, and j00r mama suxs my cox0r" aren't even funny, theyr stupid and pointless. Comments like these aren't content, and could easily be catagorized as trolling. It makes this place inhospitable to newbies who actually have potential in this form, and pushes away people who don't like dealing with this shit. Your sowing the seeds of your own destruction (i.e. driving away artists).
The assholes on this board need to grow up, i don't care if you're a prick in real life as well, if you ever expect to actually deal with people in real life, you might want to actually think about what you say and speak carefully and conciderately. If not, don't be surprised if an irate staff member goes on an anti-troll deleting spree.
Point me to any other site out there whose message board or any other place where the general public can write that doesn't have these kind of comment. You'll be hard pressed to find one, unless the webmasters takes them out manually.
Fact of the matter is, stupidity exist. The simplest thing to do is to ingore them. Because if you put up a system to try and control them, they'll make a point to defeat it and post theire crap anyway. Not only that, they'll talk sh*t about the control system and bloat theire "superior intellect" for defeating it! :-)
They love it when they get reactions, it's almost a competition who will get the meanest and most flames. Best thing to do is ingore them and not give them what they like. I think most artists here can make the difference between critisism and those invitations to flame.
Chip: you'll find that it is a fine line. Though, a line needs to be drawn, of course people will test it, thats human nature, but they shouldn't expect anything except getting their asses kicked in whatever capacity the powers that be feel is necessary when they do so.
So the line has been drawn. Test it at your own peril.
I've always been perfectly fine with just removing posts manually. never been a problem for me :)
Defamatory, assinine comments posted on work at Wincustomize.com [a very rare occurrence] have been deleted by admins. We do not suffer idiots well. Litestep.net once had the option to limit ability to comment to fellow themers only.....an option left up to each person submitting work, and also a good way to help prevent the plethora of stupid remarks. It can be controlled if people really want it to be. Custo sank into a swamp last time idiots were allowed to rule. It is time perhaps to take preventative measures against childish behaviour. Maybe three 'this sucks' and you're banned...;)
Well custo has always been know for being very blunt in its criticism, which is both a blessing and a curse, however scathing commentary is different from mindless drivel, alot of which we see currently. The idiots ruled in days past because there was noone to moderate. That is not the case now. i much prefer to curb stupidity rather than curb commentary, since there are people who are interested in discussing submissions.
