wasnt it picasso who said something to the effect that genuises steal..while others just copy.. i think if the ideas are ideas..but i think if you exact elements from someone else without permission..thats a rip.
if you're using a resource that you don't own the rights to, ie. a font, image, template, etc. either you must obtain the rights from the copywrite holder or you must manipulate the resource to the extent that it ceases to have any semblance to the original work. Otherwise, it's a rip (theft). That means that nearly all of us are guilty of some degree of ripping, and many submissions to custo and other skinning sites contain some, if not multiple ripped elements. Yes its sad but true.
and what do you guys think of vectors that have been dervived from some other work not originally created by an artist or being stockphotos but taken from a magazine or another picture found on the internet etc. etc?
technically copyright infringement.. but since no profit is made and no one claiming it to be original... in the realm of customize.org (and other customization sites), the point of "theft" is moot.
