I swa taht too- Ie'v been wirtnig ealims to pepole tihs way too see if it's ture for evreyone or if smoe polpee are imumnue: aslo it's seems lkie if yuo ralely mses up a wrod rtaher tahn jsut mvniog a few lteters teh efefct is lesened. As lnog as teh frist and lsat leettrs are three tuohgh, it gnerelaly wroks. cool.
Although it is cool, it is also so obvious that it isn't worth doing research on it. Of course you read the word as a whole, because you read words as"whole" words to begin with after a certain period of learning. It is incredibly easy to visualize, all at once, a 6-15 letter word or so. Why? Well, you've learned that already. You RECOGNIZE words. That is why you can recognize when a word is misspelled . . . lol, because you already recognize the correct spelling of that word. It is not a matter of special skill, but a matter of the natural course of learning. I'm not knocking your post, but although I share your enthusiasm, this kind of research is a perfect exmapel fo hwo to wste a rsaerch grnat.

No more worthless than say, researching mthoerfcinckg nlucear wopeans or the like. More valuable in my mind, actually.
I think it's a perfect way to gain insight into the particulars of the human mind and how it percieves the world around it. Reminds me of the "cocktail effect.".
